I would assume. My daughter will end up in public school. We're looking at aftercare options at the moment but they aren't nearly as costly as full-time daycare.

$750 for an in home daycare. My wife is a teacher and the daycare lady only keeps teacher kids so I don't have to pay during the summers.
ETA:
You have to find a good one you can trust. We love our lady and she's like a second mom. She helps potty train and teaches kids while she keeps them.

It is expensive. In many cases private school is cheaper than daycare. People are happy to get their kid into a private school’s Pre k 3 program since it is cheaper than daycare. Friend of mine is about to have twins. I guess his wife may just stop working rather than paying for daycare for 2.
Cost is a huge reason why I was extra careful when I was single.

We had our kids enrolled in the preK system once my wife had to get back to work after each child. Somewhere between 8 to 12 weeks depending on which child.
Under 2 is just under $1,000 per month for a 12-month program - month-to-month rates are a little higher
PK2 is $800 a month for 12-month program, 10-month program is $820/month, don't recall month-to-month rate
PK3 & PK4 is $800 a month, but 10-month program is only plan offered as they "move up' from day care center to being within the actual school

Between all my kids we're looking at about 3k per month in daycare/schooling
It's a beating.
The biggest load of shite is the 4 year old's well regarded and mile-long waitlist school that has some sort of day off or half-day (with no aftercare) at least 3 or 4 times a month.
Like I work. I can't just take off a day or half day once a week.

Was about 850$ a week for a 2 yr old.
In Colorado my sister is paying about 1,600$ a week for an almost 3 yr old.

Strap that budget down and keep your wife at home. It is hard at times and takes some sacrifices, but it's worth it.

I know its expensive, but didn't know how expensive. Holy shite! $22,500 a year.
$1875 for a kid who is preschool age is definitely high. You can get quality care for a kid that age for lower (area dependent of course).

Yeah if your kid can go to public K-12 it’s like getting a raise.

We’re going to wait until June to decide if she should go back to work or not.
spoiler alert
she won't
my wife took off for the first year after our 2nd was born with the intention of going back and well 5 years later she is still at home, even after all the kids are in school
life is better with the mom at home

After school care for my elementary-aged kid is only $75/wk. Run by the YMCA out of his school.
