In Texas, $16.95 a month (get 12th month free if pay in advance)....Smith Thompson Security. Only thing you have to pay is $89 up front for them to install wireless system.

Nothing. Just have it for the siren to scare off anyone that might break in and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors since you have to have them by code anyway

We use simplisafe. You buy the equipment up front and set it up yourself. It's super easy. We opt for the monthly cell phone notification system if our alarm goes off. We can give the code or ask to dispatch police.
We originally went with this system because it's mobile and we were renting. We kept it when we bought a home because it worked so well. My husband said a new camera option is coming out so we'll probably get that added.
The package was around $200-$259 and monthly is $15-$20.

10 years into it we replaced all the heat sensors and smoke detectors at a cost of about $500
New battery every 3-4 years at $40
ETA: this was with safegaurd who were recently bought out by Acadian Home Security, the same ones that run Ambulance service.

Same here. There really is almost zero crime and even if there was, our house is such a mess they wouldn't be able to find anything worthwhile anyway.

If you have Cox for cable they can do it for $15 per month. It is a really cool system too. Cameras, cell phone activation.
