re: How much do y'all tip for a haircut?

Depends.
My barber is currently an independent guy, so tipping strikes me as utterly nonsensical. He quotes me a price; I pay said price.
In the past when I was cutting cuts from "employees" of a shop, I tipped $5.

$15 haircut will result in a $5-10 tip.
I work nowhere near as hard for my money as they do.

I have no idea when I last got my hair cut, but I usually tip a flat $10.

Cut my own, and have been doing so for decades. But, the last time I did have a barber cut my hair I tipped about 20%-----but that wasn't much money when haircuts were running less than $5 back then.

I charged $15, I give $20. If charges $10 I still hand over a fin.

I pay the person to cut my hair....so why am I tipping on top of it?

I don’t tip the guy who cuts my hair because he owns the salon but I do tip the girl who washes my hair because she has big jugs and brushes them against me when she massages my scalp and shoulders.

I tip $15, but my guy stocks Jucifer and I usually snag one or two.

You pay the server to bring you your food. Why do you tip on top of it?
You pay the bartender to make your drink. Why do you tip on top of it?

What does that have to do with anything?
Barbers aren't the richest of people, and most that I've had over the years have appreciated missing out on credit card fees wherever possible.

$30 haircut. $5 tip.
Sometimes I won't tip...it isn't something I view as required.

I can cut it in a flat-top, just a trim around the ears and a little off the top to neaten things up, and the easiest being just a close buzz cut like I do this time of year.
Of course the buzz cut is the easiest. Just take the Wahl and put a #1 attachment on it and go to town till the hair stops falling, then take the attachment off and trim the back of the neck.

It depends. If it is a normal haircut then normal tipping etiquette, IMO.
For New Iberia haircuts the person cutting the hair should be paying the person sitting in the chair for even wanting that clown show of a hair cut.
