Are you like 90 years old? How do you only put 5k a year on your vehicle?

I only put about 8k per year on mine.

Mine’s a 2012, so with the new 2020’s coming out in a few months, it’ll be 8 yrs old .. but only 57k on the odometer.. i go back and froth between wanting a newer model (its a Jeep Grand Cherokee), or keeping it and buying a Used Wrangler or Rubicon for fun on the weekends.. my GC is pretty modern for an 8 yr old vehicle, with remote start and rear view camera, so i’ll prob just keep it for a while, or at least until plug-ins /hybrids are more affordable and replace with one of those...in the past I’ve had company cars so i dont think I’ve ever put over 100k on a vehicle since high school/college when i drove hoopdies.

a fairly accurate depreciation calculator..

LINK /

For a $30-35K car, after the first yr, its roughly $3K/yr depreciation.

So I'm essentially saving $3K every yr keeping my car.

Mine is 15 years old with 120,000 miles on it. I plan on driving it until it hits 250,000 miles, maybe longer.

13 years and 137k under the hood.

Planning to shoot for 16 years.

Scruffy goes about 10k/year. Should hopefully last until ~170-180k miles.

ETA: ‘14 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 208k on it.

It’s fixing to get traded in, probably on a Tahoe or a Yukon, Cornelius.

And yes, the dealer will steal the used vehicle from me.

Oh I'm aware it's a waste of money but I just don't keep vehicles that long. I don't think I've ever kept one longer than 7 years. It would take me 20-25 years to put 200k on a vehicle.

Wife’s car- 186k, 14 years old. Probably replace it soon so we’ll have a reliable one for road trips. Just spent ~ $2,400 on repairs. Was hoping I could keep it until driverless cars were available but don’t think I can wait that long.

Mine - 158k, 8 years old, was my work vehicle. Will probably keep it until one of us is unsafe to be on the roads.

I have a 2016 with 91k on the clock.

I usually buy new when old hits 250k.

So, I would say 2022?
