One, kind of.

Didn’t really know her, but my dad’s sister was killed in a house fire her ex-boyfriend set. I think I was 5 or 6 at the time.

Toni Bertolet was a senior at Trinity Episcopal in Natchez when I was in 8th or 9th grade and she was murdered by her husband in Colorado 6-7 yrs ago. Her story has been on Dateline, 48 hours, etc as he was running a financial scam and pushed her off a cliff while supposedly hiking. Know her brothers and parents..great, strong people

In the fifth grade, a boy who had been a friend since kindergarden went off to Catholic School near D.C. and was murdered by an older student.

In High School, a classmate left school our Junior Year and was murdered by her husband.

In New Orleans, a couple we knew very well died as a murder suicide pact.

Up here in Tennessee, a young man who grew up two plots of land from our house was murdered
after he went off to college by druggies who supposedly were after his roommate.

Other murders in Houston and New Orleans were of acquaintences who we barely knew.

Did he know your Aunt or was this just a random break in or something? The horrific details on wiki almost sounded personal. What a monster.

A few, but the one that sticks out was senseless.

quote:

James Barrow and Michael Smith are charged in the shooting death of Brent Cole. Cole is from Dequincy, which is near Lake Charles. He was killed back in March while trying to find his hotel. Karen Cole, Brent Cole's widow, says she is relieved to hear about the arrests. On March 15th of 2008, Karen Cole held onto her phone and listened as gun shots rang out on the other end of the line.

4. 5 if you count my doctor's brother (who I didn't meet but know her fairly well.)

One of the murdered includes Shelby Holmes.

2nd or 3rd cousin was killed by his BiL (wife’s Sister’s husband)

Just recently, a 16 year old whose family I’ve been working with through our church just got arrested for a murder with a cocaine deal got wrong. I think she was just there for the cocaine and not the murder. Being charged as an accessory. Obviously my work through the church is effective.

Just one that I can think of. My sister’s best friend’s brother was murdered by his wife and her boyfriend (who was a “pastor”). I guess she thought she’d get life insurance money and she and the boyfriend would runaway together. They were both charged within a few days and are both now in prison.

The victim was one of the nicest people out there and did not deserve to lose his life.

-I’ve had 3 guys I grew up or played sports with shot in different drive by’s

-guy I grew up withs mother was murdered, Case is still cold (google Karen Swift)

-uncles best friend shot execution style, case still cold as well

-girl I graduated with was shot in the head in a walk up, while she was in the front yard, throwing her son a birthday party
