That new development Morgantown is really really nice and private.

it's not so new, but there are many new houses going up these days. it is a very nice place, with two pools and very nice tennis courts that nobody uses. also has 3 nice beach access boardwalks, and the beach is never crowded.

Gulf shores is no different from any other beach. They are all crowded scenes of trashyness. I go a minimum of once a year and I am not a fan of any beach. But, the wife and kids love it and they put up with my bullshite so I go sit under an umbrella for a week and drink beer. It could be worse.

Gulf shores is getting crowded as frick though. We went for a weekend in November last year and it was great. Had the beach to ourselves.

It's been several years since I've stayed in Gulf Shores. We usually just go to Orange Beach.
We've stayed everywhere from Gulf Shores down to Sandestin. I loved all of the trips.

It does help that we usually go the week before Memorial Day so it's never crowded. We had tried a few times to go in late July and it's just so damn hot and the seaweed and jellyfish are a lot worse then.

I guess I meant it’s new to me.

We rented a beach house there for a week during Easter. We chose Morgantown because they allow dogs on the beach. The pools and tennis courts were very nice, the beach was clean and hardly anyone out there. Very quiet and private. The house we rented was just a couple years old. There’s 2 small, expensive grocery stores within a mile or so, pizza parlor and a couple restaurants. The crowds are nothing like they are from Orange Beach to Destin.

We would definitely go back for a quick trip

Yea I take the family every year to the beach. We do other vacations also but we make it a point every summer to go with a close group of friends and their family. We all enjoy it, especially my boys.

Have been to most of the beaches along the panhandle and bama, favorite is Navarre and seaside but I would rather orange over all the others. I do really like Destin but it gets so damn crowded, it's not worth it IMO, atleast not with 3 kids under 8.

And I love all the people in this thread making fun of people for going to the beach yearly. Wish they would realize some take more than one vacation a year. And some people actually enjoy the beach. Unless it's a historical site seeing in would rather the beach over anything else(haven't been snow skiing since I was a teenager, so not sure on that).

If you have young kids that like action, it is heard to beat the beach. It's by far my boys favorite vacation every year and they ask why we waste time going other places.

And yes some people are trashy that go there, but that is every where. And honestly with the way pricing is most places, there is less trash now than ever before at the non public areas.

Yep.

It's not as trashy as Grand Isle, Galveston, Biloxi, or something like Bayou Country Superfest.

I guess it may be because we rarely go during crowded times, but I never notice much trash. I'm sure it's a shitshow around the 4th of July though.

A few years ago we drove over to Seaside for the day and while I get that it's a damn nice place, it was crowded as fck. I mean people were driving around in circles trying to find open parking spots and the road out front was a traffic jam.

Dude, this is the OT.

Disney is terrible....unless you fly privately and get the private tour.

The beach is trashy....unless you fly privately to Bora Bora

Snow skiing is trashy....unless you fly privately to Laax Switzerland.

If you haven't noticed yet, most of the people that post here have the maturity level of an infant and an IQ of a baseball.

Family has a house in Ft Morgan, so we usually go there once or twice a year. I'm not a huge fan of the beach, especially in the summer, so I usually only go for a long weekend. Wife and kids love the beach so they go more than I do.

And are people really comparing Gulf Shores and Orange Beach? They're the same damn place situated right next to each other. Both are way too crowded for me in the summer, and make me grateful we have a place in Ft Morgan to stay away from the crowds.

Used to go often before Ivan wiped our place out. To me it just isn't the same anymore. And the Florabama might be the most overrated bar in the country. (the new version that is)

Oh I know, I find it comical that most that are saying those things are trashy, can't afford them or don't have kids.

To do Disney, even cheap is gonna be 4 or 5 grand, not many people that are trash are doing that often.

Week long condo at Gulf shores is gonna be a grand or more plus another grand down there. Most nicer places are gonna be double or triple that. Some more than that. How are trashy people affording that unless they split it between familes?

Snow skiing is the same as above.

My question is where the hell are you supposed to take kids on vacation that are younger than 10? Sorry not many 6 year olds are going to stay engaged more than a day or so on a trip to look at historical sites in DC. My kids happen to love that stuff and even I realize they would get bored with it, my youngest....shite he would make everyone miserable with the constant whining.

A I supposed to take them to New York? Realize how boring that is for younger kids? Go tour Paris?

I mean where the hell is not trashy to take kids on vacation? I take then on other things And will take them on a trashy arse cruise next year. Only so many places you can take kids and have them enjoy themselves.

Beach-trashy
Snow skiing- trashy
Great wolf lodge-trashy
All inclusive resort-trashy
Disney-trashy

It's comical. And funny that Kost that can't afford shite are the main ones that say this shite.

Sorry not gonna drop an extra 4 grand per person to do the underground tour of Disney. You miss half of the stuff. Had friends that did, yea skipping the lines was nice but you miss out on the atmosphere of the place.

Not gonna bring kids out of the country to a place like the Caribbean or Costa Rica and try and mingle with the locals. That is dangerous and miserable for both the kids and parents. Excursions...sure but not staying in a VRBO at a place like that.

Snow skiing...why the hell would somebody spend the extra money to take kids to a place over sees when they can barely enjoy some Ace like red River.

Look I get there are some trash elements at all of these places, but that is anywhere and everywhere. And if those places are considered trashy, well my trashy arse family will be there with all the other trashy upper middle class folks.

We did Disney(family of 4) for around $3k just 5 years ago. It's possible to do Disney on a cheaper budget, but it's certainly more challenging. And we stayed at a mid-level hotel on site, not one of the value ones.

We've done the Bahamas, St Thomas/St John, Grand Cayman, and Aruba with our kids, staying in VRBO's in all but The Bahamas, and never had a problem and never felt unsafe.

I do get your overall point, but I've always taken the "trashy" comments here as more of a joke. I also grew up poor and was called trash many times growing up, and as I've gotten older I've gotten to the point where I don't give a shite what people say about me, especially strangers on the internet.
