The traffic in Destin last year made I-10 in Baton Rouge seem efficient. I would take Gulf Shores / Orange Beach any time over having to deal with that again.

went Down to fort Morgan a couple of years ago. That area would probably be my first choices if I could choose a spot. Definitely don’t have to worry about overcrowding

The beach houses in Ft Morgan are a no brainier, and the drive is too easy.

PCB is a shithole.....OB is nothing but condos and overcrowded beaches full of trash....

Destin is nice, but getting too crowded and traffic is a bitch

It's only not trashy if you go to the expensive places in Colorado or northern Cali.

Going to New Mexico is trashy according to many here.

Still don't see how the beach or Disney is trashy. I get people not wanting to do the beach every year but some people do that and other trips and if that is all someone can afford or all they like, then it isn't trashy.

shouldn't you be spending your time trying to find somewhere to live in ATL?

The surge pricing for hangout a couple years ago was nuts (12x I think) so I feel you

I'd say that was worth it....you dont want to get stopped in OB or GS and get a DUI

Pcb is nice if you stay in the westside. Further in it is, more it sucks.

Destin is more crowded than orange Beach I'm. Neither is trashy. I love GS but it's trashier that either and Pensacola is as bad or worse imo

I think every cop in the area was by hangout. Even the police hq on fort Morgan rd was empty. But it was definitely worth it to Uber, got a little 3am catnap in before the after party

I guess if you hang out by the main beach near the pier it is, but I've enjoyed it the times I've been to Portofino. It's a very nice place and is next to some kind of state park so it never feels crowded. They even have drink service on the beach.
I would very much advise not to go this weekend though.

Sorry want saying it was bad or anything, I just get tired of people acting like Destin is the only place worth a shite. It is as crowded and as trashy as the others. I.e. not really trashy at all.

The biggest downside to Destin is crowds and traffic but if you go in the off season it's not bad now having said that, if you travel a bit further in the off season you get the benefits of all of that plus a dramatic decease in cost.

Destin has definitely gotten way too crowded. Nowadays people are starting to trend toward Seaside and Rosemary Beach.

Family and I have vacationed here for the past several summers. For what we are looking for, which is nice peaceful, not overly crowded beaches PK fits the bill.

Go there every July. Its a great change of scenery with just a 2 hour drive. Much better than Destin/Ft Walton area

We were FWB & Destin people until 2004 when we tried Perdido Key on recommendation of a friend. We thought PK was just OK, mainly just not as pretty of a beach. We also had a more limited budget that year condo wise. Anyway Hurricane Ivan hit later that year so in 2005 we went back to Destin and it was so crowded we said never again. PK became our place of choice ever since except for the oil slick year. Last year to change it up a bit we stayed in the heart of GS near The Hangout and it was more crowded than Destin ever was. This year we are giving Dauphin Island a shot.

The answer to you question is in the title of the thread.

The beaches at Destin are too crowded for my taste (I am spoiled after living in the Caribbean with a semi-private beach in front of my apartment complex and a topless beach full of european women only a 4 minute walk away), but the other aspects of a Destin vacation offset the crowds. Gulf Shores and Orange Beach have the same overcrowding problem as Destin and it does not have the same quality of other aspects to offset it.

PCB sucks. I would rather drive an hour less and stay in more of a family atmosphere. I love OB and love going to Cobalt for dinner
