I've been 8 or so times. Mostly for hangout fests, but also quieter weekends. Usually stay at Lighthouse. Always have a good trip. Sea n Suds is a solid spot

Don’t mind if I reuse that line one day.

Once you visit a quality beach your will realize just how much the cattle pen that they call the Redneck Riveria sucks.

So sell me on Gulf Shores? Similar to orange beach?

They're essentially the same. In fact people often refer to orange beach as gulf shores.

Orange Beach is a 10 minute drive from Gulf Shores so the actual beach is one and the same until you get past Alabama point. Orange Beach has a much better selection and higher quality restaurants. I left Baton Rouge over 8 years ago to move to here and have no regrets. The only thing that trashes this place up are the group of tourists that are here when you visit. Some weeks are cheaper for weekly vacation rentals and attract the trashier crowds. But it’s brief and they are only here for a week at a time. I have to deal with lots of tourist from Memorial Day to Labor Day but that’s when most of my Louisiana friends and family are visiting. Lots of LSU people in Lower Alabama. The rest of the year the beaches are wide open. One hour to Pensacola for a major airport and less than an hour to Mobile or Fairhope. Love it here.

I hope you aren’t talking about the Florida section of the Emerald coast in this comment because if you are you are beyond stupid. I have been to beaches and coastal areas all over the country and in the Caribbean and from Pensacola to Destin is still my favorite

The bama coast was way better when we could get abortions down there, now I just go to the Oregon beaches.

Bought a house in a place called Martinique a few years ago. It backs up to a wilderness refuge and the beach is pristine and undeveloped to my left for miles. It stays rented peak, pays for itself and I use it during off season. March-May and Sept. I keep snowbirds in it over the winter but I love the place. Highly recommend.

That section is nice, but I still think the beaches in the BVI's are nicer. Mainly because of the water.

Basically the same. Gulf Shores has more public beach. Orange beach has more top of the line condos

Went all the time in the past. Kinda of got tired of the beach and I can go to a pool anytime I want. We have been branching out the last few summers

We started at the beach club when we first had kids. It is nice down there but kinda far to run to the grocery store. We have since moved more east every year. 30A gets a lot of hate here but we prefer renting a cottage to a condo and riding bikes everywhere.

Just got back from this area. I was surprised how beautiful the water was this week and the sand was nice too. It was very much like Destin...only a lot shorter drive.

Did Alabama beat Mississippi on this blue water beach sea wall?

Last time, I went to Dauphin Island, near Fort Gaines the water looked only a touch cleaner than Grand Isle. Also that side of the island has a strong current due to its proximity to the bay.

I said in my mind time to go further east. So on my next trip, I drove to the other side to Gulf shores and the water was still not clear. So I drove east and ended up in Perdido Key.

One time, I just skipped over both locations and ended up in Navarre Beach.

It was beautiful. I especially liked the drive between Navarre and Pensacola along the beach. Two lane road through the preserve and no development except for picnic areas and restrooms. You could see the water and waves crash.

I saw mountains of sand waiting to be used as fill for washouts. I even thought Grand Isle should have these.

^^^ This. Everything I love about coastal Florida. Time for a road trip!
