Yeah - as a HS football player during 2 a days with not an oz of fat on my body that chart had me at “ overweight “ . We all know it’s garbage for most body types. At 5’11 172 lbs I’d look like a cancer patient.

So, 6’2” and 148 lbs is normal?!
Gtfo. That’s ridiculous.
While I think 215-220 would be a good fit (243 currently), I’m not losing sleep over it.

BMI is flawed in individuals who are athletic or have a large amount of muscle.
Scruffy falls under overweight as well because of that.
It is still a useful tool and applicable to our population because the vast majority does not exercise, do not have muscular frames, and are simply fat.
If you can’t visualize the spinal column or, at the very least, palpate the spinal column, you are definitely fat.

At 18 I was 175, 6’ and almost 1”
I was skinny.
Now at 56 I’m 6 ft even, either I shrunk or just got more honest.
Now I’m 235 but was up to almost 10 pounds heavier. Work king my way bag to 220, may go for lower.
I always tell people, when I was in my 20s, my goal was to weigh 200 pounds. Now that I’m in my 50 my goal is still to weigh 200 pounds.

It’s obvious in that photo that you are heavy/stocky. Muscular? Sure. Lean? Probably yes. But still a somewhat heavy set build.

I didn't realize how large the spread was for 6'. 150 is close to the middle. Show us that.
6' 160 is frail. You'd need Charles Atlas to show you how to keep people from kicking sand in your face.

My weight is perfect according to the chart...I just need to be about 4 inches taller.

I wasn't fat though. probably the most healthy i have ever been in my life. Just showing that the charts don't really fit for a lot of athletic people.

Chart says I’m fine, but I think my stomach is ugly so aiming for that low number.

Nobody is arguing against that. The point is most people don't exercise. Even less lift weights. The point is that the chart is a good tool for THE AVERAGE person, it's not that complicated.

Yep. It’s parroted way too much because the majority of people aren’t the exception. People love them some fat logic.

Just depends on your definition of an athletic physique. To me you are probably still 10-20 lbs too heavy but you are in shape so it’s all good.
One mistake many people make is confusing a bodybuilder (ish) physique for an an athletic one.

Lol.
At 18, 6’2.5” 285 lbs hitting 302 at 19-20.
Kept “powerlifting” until 35 years old and 292lbs. Realized I had kids and dropped immediately to 230.
Influx between 248 and 235 now. Make no mistake, I need to lean up now in my 40s. I think 220 would be refreshing considering I was 13 years old last time I weighed that.

According to the chart, I'm barely obese. At 5'10 I was 175 for awhile, pretty slim and worked out everyday and would've felt comfortable with probably 10-15 lbs of added muscle. There's no way I would feel healthy at 167.

definitely wasn't trying to be a bodybuilder. I had gotten really in to spartan races and warrior dash type of stuff. did a lot of running and cycling. lifted only 3 times a week and the rest was body weight exercise.
