Met special exhibits can be brutal especially during holidays when out-of-town relatives hit. Skip those, make a virtual gallery visit online, then go see a few long-term exhibits that interest you. Arms and Armor is a good choice.
Extra tip if you are in Paris, don't stand in line at the Louvre main entrance. Enter underground via the Metro station... usually fewer people.

Yes, there are better things to see than the Mona Lisa.
But when you are there walking with no lines, why not take a quick look?

Went to the MET over the summer and they have a collection of Van Gogh thought it’d be cool to see starry night. Walked into the room and noped right out after seeing the mass of people huddled around a picture you can pull up on your phone.
While I would certainly avoid the crowds (look into doing the very early morning private tour at the MET), impressionist works are vastly different experiences in person than looking at a flat image. I’ve seen some oils layered to the point that the texture of the painting varied over half an inch in places.
Anyway, all I’m saying is don’t let a single crowd crush experience have you swear off a lifetime of personally experiencing great art

I've never been to Paris but my son has and he said the Mona Lisa was underwhelming. It was a school tour, so he was stuck waiting no matter what.

id wait 10-15 mins just to say i did.
i wouldnt waste my time in a great place to visit in line for hours to look at some old painting just to see it for 5 minutes a go "yup" and walk away. I am more inclined of go see natural beauty of areas i visit anyway.

It's not even the best artwork in the room where it hangs IMO.

The Mona Lisa line is where the proxy war is happening between America and the Chinese tourist. Do your part!

That’s a no for me.
I can go to the Vatican and see better works in the Sistine and since I’m a Patron I get the private tour where I’m not rushed and can take pictures.

It's OK baw, that museum type stuff wouldn't look right in your doublewide anyway.
I assume you feel the same way about about the WWII museum? Wait, you may not know what's actually inside of museums.
Definitely nerd level...

That's about 28 days out of 365 day that the crowd happens.
I'd spend my time there with the David paintings to more appreciate the Napoleonic times.
Mona Lisa or Taylor Swift which would draw a bigger crowd in which demographics?

Sistine Chapel - 90 minutes

How long would you stand in line to see Mona Lisa?
Pics on reddit!
Not waiting to see that. You can probably find videos for free online if you try.

Compared to the other paintings in that exact same room, the Mona Lisa was a disappointment.

I have zero appreciation for most art, so the answer for me is 0.
