If the line had strippers on each side, beer stands, and craps tables I wouldn't advance and break the world record for remaining in line the longest.

I've seen the Mona Lisa in person. There of course was a crowd around it, but I got up close to it in a minute or two. It was cool to see such a historical painting up close, but damn I was disappointed in how tiny the portrait is. It's much smaller than many people think. The Louvre had so many more works of art that were more impressive.

Went to the MET over the summer and they have a collection of Van Gogh thought it’d be cool to see starry night. Walked into the room and noped right out after seeing the mass of people huddled around a picture you can pull up on your phone.

Seeing a Van Gogh in person is worth it because of the texture he used in his medium. Doesn’t have to be Starry Night to appreciate it though.

I’ve never seen it, but I feel like it’d be quite underwhelming. Especially if I had to wait in a long line to see it.

If you are in the Louvre for the first time you need to see it. If you have to wait in line you can admire what may be the most interesting painting in the room- The Wedding at Cana, which is a huge painting on the opposite wall.

I thankfully didn't at all.... the Lourve is massive...so massive its truley impossible to see all of it in 1 day....

we went directly to the Mona Lisa, just to sorta get it out of the way, and we waited for about 10 minutes from the back of the line to the front row for the best pictures....

and yes, the Louvre is way too big to see all in one day... i'd estimate we saw maybe 10% of it, since after the Mona Lisa my 11 and 7 year olds were "done" with the whole thing

The biggest hazard and threat to your personal space are the hordes of Chinese tourists shoving their way to the front

If you go early and go straight there the wait is under 5 minutes. But its pretty underwhelming. Something to say you did, but it was probably the least exciting thing i saw in the louvre.

not if you go early. i mean yeah if you try to go at 1pm forget it.

It just takes a little bit of planning, and not sleeping in.

Not even for a minute. The Mona Lisa is a boring painting. The original is long gone, having been touched up so many times.

The Louvre receives nine million visitors annually, and according to museum officials, the Mona Lisa is the main attraction for 80 per cent of those people. During especially busy days, 250,000 people stand in the same line my mother and I did.

They make it sound ridiculous, but the math doesn't add up. 9 million divided by 250k is 36 days. So is the place rarely open, or does it actually rarely see 250k in one day?
I hate lines for anything, so I would probably just glance at it in the distance walking by if there was a crowd. More likely the case is that I will never see it in person, don't care to.

I think a busy day at the louvre is like 25 or 30k. no idea where that 250k comes from, whomever wrote that probably just made it up.

I love to stand a long time in front of those people and be on THE SPOT they need to take 15 minutes of pictures from. It happens at every famous spot in the world. I never yell Godzirrah! But I am always tempted.

Yes, I know that is a Japanese thing
