How long would it take humans to wipe out the animals if society collapsed?

Killing them for food. Or could humans even do it? Would the numbers eventually reach an equilibrium as people died off?

what level of collapsing are we talking about here?

Government and the economy broken down.

Due to lack of general hunting/gathering knowledge, a large percentage of humanity would starve, this decreasing the chance of causing mass extinctions.
There will likely be some casualties, likely limited to fish species, but Scruffy doesn’t see a massive impact occurring due to a lack of centralized control.

People would be dieing off far faster than the animals, it would reach balancing point in a relatively short period of time. Most people would die as the result of other people.

who would make the bullets?

Populations of major cities would die of dehydration in less than 5 days.
That's 90% of the developed world.

Always have enough bullets for every man woman and child in your closest metropolitan area.
Zombie invasions are no joke.

This. Not too many people that could legitimately survive if they were having to find their own drinkable freshwater.

I would show up on a list real quick if I bought a bullet for every person in the Houston/Galveston metroplex

We would die before the animals

The more appropriate question would be how long would it take animals to wipe out humans. Within a year we would be thinned by 30% from in-fighting, weather and elderly dying off. Another year and the medicine runs out. Free-for-all after that, and we have become too soft.
I am heading up to Minnesota. Food, lower population, and enough timber to keep the fire going.

I have a feeling we’d get the taste for long pork Before we killed off all the deer.
