How long will the loop take?

State leaders and lawmakers met to discuss a possible Baton Rouge loop Wednesday as drivers were stuck in a traffic apocalypse that snarled traffic to a stop across the Capital City for more than nine hours.
According to State Rep. Dixon McMakin, the Governor’s Office, DOTD Secretary Glen Ledet, Senator Franklin Foil, Senator Rick Edmonds and McMakin were all part of the discussions.
Wednesday morning, a big rig overturned near Dalrymple, leading to a nearly ten-hour shutdown of Interstate 10 westbound.

However long it takes to figure out it makes sense considering the pockets that’ll have to get greased.

Well its 2026....so the feasibility studies should be completed by 2056. Then the environmental impact studies can begin.

You have to blame the Fed for this requirement. I doubt they'll wave it.
And it's a monumental undertaking just to line up and settle all the property acquisition that will be required.

They will need a study to line up a study. That will be at least 5 years and 5 million just for that.

Let's see! I first heard the legislature talking about the need for a loop in Baton Rouge around 1998. So given that it's been studied and talked about and reviewed for the last 28 years I figure ground breaking should begin around the summer of 2061 with a scheduled completion date of 2096 which will be extended to 2246 because of delays and more studies to determine the economic impact of the delays.
By the time we have flying cars for everyone they'll have it done thought, don't you worry.

you would need a new bridge to replace the one they want to route the loop around
that bridge is a dump and not safe at all
so in essence you would need two new bridges
on top of that they built the Audubon bridge which no one uses

Useless pandering politician who authored a bill in last year’s legislative session to make NIL earnings free from state income taxes.
I think he also considered running for Julie Letlow’s Congressional seat.

Are they planning on building a bridge for it or using an existing one?
As we all know, it takes 47 years to build a needed bridge around here, but only 20 when it's in the middle of nowhere.

Like anything to do with our infrastructure, they’re 20-30 years too late. A loop should have been done in 2005. At this point in time, we need 3 loops, and 3 new bridges. And Airline Hwy needs to become an elevated interstate, with the original highway being used as exits to get people to wherever they need to go. Of course it’d take 20 years for them to break ground on just one of these projects, so we might as well suck it up at this point.

New elevated interstate from New Orleans to SpaceX in the works.
