Valid. But no Civil War General was competent to command such large forces and technological communication, transportation, and weapons. Sherman eventually learned. Grant did well in the West, but Marse Lee out Generaled him in the East. But Grant did understand his logistical and manpower advantage and just sat on the Army of Northern Virginia regardless of cost.
Lee outperformed every Yankee General. Mostly because his subordinates were vastly superior, somewhat because Lee was superior, but largely because his opponents were so inferior.
War is a hard teacher. If given enough time even the French can eventually find or develop competent leaders. You mentioned Gettysburg. Lee made some mistakes, but so did his opponents. The biggest problem for CSA was loss of intelligence from cavalry. Mostly this was Southern cavalry leadership error, but also improved Union cavalry performance and leadership.
I find the rewriting of the Southern effort a disgrace. And monument removal is just a political substitute for mismanagement, political theft, infrastructure neglect (see theft), inadequate policing and education.
PGT’s removal didn’t fix the pumps but it got the politicians re-election.
I do miss some things in Orleans. But I will not spend one red cent there, and my life is good and safer. But seriously try the skin on skirt steak next time.

Thanks. I’ve actually been there several times. First time as a young boy in late 60s. Second time in early 2000s when UNO, Ogden, and city tried to close it. Last time with my kids.
In 2001 the UNO foundation announced its claims to the Confederate Memorial Hall building and initiated efforts to remove the museum from the premises. A series of court battles ensued in which title ownership to the property was granted to UNO, however efforts to evict the museum were stayed by the courts on bonds As the case proceeded through the appellate processes, Governor Mike Foster intervened in the dispute and assisted in the drafting of a compromise between UNO and the museum that would allow Confederate Memorial Hall to remain in its historic building. In August 2003, at Foster's direction, both parties agreed to drop pending lawsuits to the building in exchange for fulfillment of a compromise agreement. Per the agreement, UNO is required to cede its title claims to the Confederate Memorial Hall museum's land and building in exchange for the construction of a connecting tunnel through the basement as was proposed in the 1997 plan.
A good Governor protects his states history. Another reason I won’t vote for JBE.

Agreed, and I travel them both for a living. NOLA traffic has nothing on how bad BR traffic is all day long, both interstates and surface streets. It’s just plain absurd for a city the size of BR to have traffic that atrocious.
Now, to be fair, when it comes to road conditions, NOLA has everyone beat in the deplorable conditions of their roads, and that’s saying a lot because BR roads are pathetic.

Haven't been to NOLA in almost 2 years, but I've been to BR 3x

Nobody got reelected to anything BECAUSE of that silliness. It was a stunt for Mitch to make a splash nationally. Nothing more, nothing less.
