I almost always feel better after a 30-45 minute nap, but sometimes that short of a snooze isn't in the cards. Can't really do it anymore with the kids, but waking up early on a Saturday with no plans, cooking some breakfast, doing a few things around the house, then putting on golf and dozing off for an hour or so was always awesome.

I've read that the optimal nap time is how long it takes you to drop something you have in your grasp when you lay down. Like holding your keys and hanging your hand off the couch and letting the sound of them hitting the floor being your alarm.

A day nap with the fan on is one of the blessings from God.

Hammock naps on a 70 degree day with a breeze are hard to beat.

My only rule for a nap is that it needs to happen organically (i.e. fall asleep on couch or recliner, typically while watching some sort of sport). My wife, on the other hand, plans out naps.

Agreed. But I live in Dallas so hammock naps with a breeze only happen for me on vacation and Vacation Naps are in their own Godly category.

I’ve had 2 long days of yard work plus alcohol. This evening after pulling the Boston butt off the grill to let it rest, you damns skippy my eyes shut for 35 minutes. Took down a tree that was a couple feet from the house today! My wife thought I was going to kill myself. Naps, when needed are essential. I don’t do it often but the heat hit hard beginning Friday. Now I’m polishing off my bottle of wine. God bless America!

Napping is for toddlers and the elderly

So you must love them then because you surely post like a toddler.

I love naps but the problem is I’ll try to take a short nap then it turns into several hours and then the rest of the day is lost

Give me a solid hour and I’m ready to go. If I’m hungover at the camp may need an extra hour

I use the quality of my naps to determine the current quality of my life.

If my nap game is off, I have to start making changes.

I prefer naps in a hammock or on the beach. It's getting to hot for the hammock naps though.

I’ve turned into my father. No matter what time I go to bed I’m awake by 6 am 7 days a week. So a good hour nap on Saturday and/or Sunday is a little slice of heaven.

Nothing wrong with a good nap at anytime. Your body is telling you something.
