Naps frick me up. I can't fall asleep unless I'm exhausted and then I nap for hours and it takes me an hour to wake up and just ruins my day.

quote:

used to argue with a friend that if you got in the bed it can no longer be considered a nap. A nap is reserved for couches, recliners, floors, park benches, etc.

What about just laying on top of your covers?

Have any of you taken an unexpected nap in the evening, and wake up right around now (7:45ish) and think for a bit that it was morning and you were running late?

I did this a few weeks ago. Got up, made coffee and was halfway finished with my coffee when I realized it was PM and not AM.

I don't take naps period. My 6 y.o. daughter takes after me also. My wife on the other hand lives for naps

All right, rough upvote/downvote ratio for my first OP, but thanks for the opinions!

I like to get a solid nap in ever day. Sometimes it's 30 minutes and other times it's 3 hours.

I love a nap but it’s really hard for me to actually fall asleep.

I seem to have more nightmares during naps than during the night, though

I agree but I've read things that say a short nap during the middle of the day helps most people. I won't even bother going to sleep unless it's for at least 1.5 hrs+.

Why not just take a regular uninterrupted nap for longer instead of waking up every few minutes?

I found it actually makes me feel more rested...it’s weird

If you're a Boomer or Gen-X, they're an integral part of long term survival to recover from the stress old-man strength puts on the body.

Yeah, it doesn't work for everyone. Especially if you take forever to fall asleep. But it works well for me, in the evening 5-6 range. Sometimes if I feel like the rest of the night won't be productive, I sacrifice the 30 minutes so I can play with/teach the kids.

I'd take one every day if i could.

I feel more refreshed from a nap than sleep a lot of times. It's also proven to be a good thing.

Problem is most jobs you do not get the chance to nap.

Yeah, I've had some power naps that made me feel better than the long ones tend to. If the nap goes too long, I feel horrible for hours after I wake up.

I rarely nap, but dozing off for 20 or 30 minutes while on the beach or on a front porch at a cabin is pretty damn great.
