Just got to Philly for the weekend for work.
Dumped snow all day yesterday & that's all now ice everywhere. Yet it was pouring down rain while the ice just stayed.

Seriously, how do people live like this, by choice???

The heat and humidity does not compare to loads of snow.

You get appropriate outerwear. While it was fun to go sledding, etc., as a kid, I definitely don’t miss it.

Man was made by God to have a few extra pounds to stay warm so you don’t have to shiver in a north face when it gets below 70

You Calvin Klein wannabes would’ve frozen or had to pick berries with the women back in the caveman days

I would deal with the cold and snow over heat and humidity any day. I spent the first 26 years of my life in the Midwest. You have different clothing, coats, etc when you live in a cold climate. I have a couple of winter items that I can never wear here in the south because it's never cold enough for it.

Because even when it’s hotter than hell and more humid than a sauna we can still physically go outside, walk or drive to where we need to go, and even do things outside. It may be unpleasant but it’s possible.

When it snows three feet, all of hose things are remarkably more difficult and sometimes impossible

I lived in the Midwest til I was 19, and I can’t imagine going back to cold & snow for 7 months a year. The worst part (in my state) was how gloomy winter felt. We’d go weeks with it being overcast and gray. It’s made me appreciate heat & humidity.

You can always put in more clothes.

The law restricts how much you can take off and go in public.

A truer statement has never been written.
After Katrina it was so miserably hot and humid. After Sandy we had a snowstorm come through and no heat except for the fireplace. I could always put on more clothes and blankets so it wasn't bad but in the heat and humidity you are screwed

Adding to this...when trying to be outdoors in the south in the summer, expect to get chased indoors by humidity, mosquitos, etc.

When enjoying outdoors in the mountains in the winter, another log on the fire and more whiskey...all good.

Fortunately, Columbia/Magellan/GG/etc. have gotten to the point that they make some really comfortable & breathable moisture wiquing apparel in long sleeves & pants. I've found they really help with the mosquitoes.

A problem with layering up is you have to wash all that bulk. Another problem is putting it all on & taking it all off everytime you go in/out.
