Because even when it’s hotter than hell and more humid than a sauna we can still physically go outside, walk or drive to where we need to go, and even do things outside. It may be unpleasant but it’s possible. When it snows three feet, all of hose things are remarkably more difficult and sometimes impossible

That’s fine, but you’re assuming that a freak snowstorm like this is the norm all winter everywhere up north. It isn’t.

this is the second thread where you let everyone know you will be in Philly. Wonder how many more you have in you?

I almost moved to Ann Arbor and got depressed just reading about their winters. November to March of grey, cold slush.

Then there are places like Denver or Flagstaff who technically get a lot more snow than the Midwest but also have a ton of sunshine. 15 degrees and sunny with snow on the ground is doable. 30 and humid and grey clouds for weeks straight is seasonal anxiety disorder inducing.

lived in the Midwest til I was 19, and I can’t imagine going back to cold & snow for 7 months a year. The worst part (in my state) was how gloomy winter felt. We’d go weeks with it being overcast and gray. It’s made me appreciate heat & humidity.

I notice this mindset is more common in women from the Midwest than men. Guessing that is in relation to the thermostat differences with women always wanting it warmer.
The heat and humidity here sucks, but it's bearable. However, there is nothing I enjoy more than a good week or two trip up north during the winter months.

Well, no shite. I guess it's a good thing that three foot snows are a rare event.

I have several large customers in Canada. I always ask them what the weather is like there. They get excited when it's above freezing there. Insane.

When the weather's hot and sticky
That's no time for Dunkin' Dickey.

But when the frost is on th' pumpkin
Then's the time for Dickie Dunkin.

Yep, if you get cold, you're not wearing the right clothing.

It all depends if you're used to it or not.

I spent three months on a mountain top in the middle of BFE Turkey where it never got above freezing. Hit 50 below a few nights. Good times. Gave me new appreciation for what cold really is. After that little stint, I found that it takes much more for me to feel cold.

I prefer cold to heat and humidity.

But I also live in the DC where we have the shittiest of both worlds. Went from 85 to 30 in a week.

Well that sounds extreme but every time I'm in cold I'm reminded of how terrible it is.

No Wonder the suicide rate is so high in Alaska.. What a miserable existence

I actually really enjoyed the weather when I lived in Des Moines. I love cold weather. The only things I did not enjoy were road conditions after an ice storm, and having snow fall in late April/early May.

I would take a cold, gloomy winter 100% of the time over those disgusting arse 80 degree December days.
