Have cats but the same idea in that they were from a shelter and got 2, 5-year-olds at the time because most folks want younger critters.

If you want a specific dog, search that dog on google and find those rescues. Best of both worlds. Awesome that you take shelter/rescue dogs. Wish more people did it.

My next pup will be a doberman and they have a few rescues in Texas I want to check out.

Online. Puppies.con I believe. Don't let the shelter folks get to you. You can search local

Have a golden doodle and a Shepard doodle.

Two blue heelers.

Older dog: 13 years ago from a local vet who also ran a shelter.

Newer dog: visiting my parents last year and heard about a local farmer with a litter. Drove over and picked her out of 8 puppies hanging out in the back of his barn. Parents were there and seemed like good dogs.

I had been looking at a few shockingly high priced breeders at the time, so it worked out good for me for dog number two.

What would really be great is more responsible owners, then there would be much fewer shelter animals.

Bought their great grandma in 2011, rescued her granddaughter from a couple that were going to kill a chow for killing a cat. Rescued one from Chicago, mean son of a bitch at first but we've settled him down. Then found a black lab girl with one blue eye Halfway down my road on the edge of the woods. She's the sweetest.

My dog is about thirteen years old now. Awesome dog with a funny personality. When he was a puppy, he just showed up on our property. It was in January so I'm thinking it was a Christmas present that didn't work out for somebody, and they ditched the pup on our road. Anyway, we took him to the vet, and he wasn't chipped so we just kept him. Mostly brown lab with some Australian Shepherd in him.

He basically would follow me home while i was jogging for a couple weeks. Didn't realize he was stray. Took him in and he's a great dog.

Wife picked her up in middle of road. Owners said to keep her. Best dog we’ve had in a long time. Aussie border collie mix.
