Inheritance.

One their family owns one of the largest boat company in the world.

Another one’s family owns the one of the largest oilfield services contractor firms.

Another one I know is a little more self made. He owns a diesel machine shop that services and installs all generators including residential and commercial. He also owns a small cattle farm, I think.

Another one decided to create a Facebook for pets, I don't know how that one ended, but he later went on to do personal training, and as of last week is now giving crypto advice.

Me too.

I only kinda sorta keep up with maybe 20% of them, I was “Most Likely to Succeed” and that probably turned out to be true.

Married someone who committed tax fraud against the state of LA on movie credits, I believed.

Successful businessperson on their own but their spouse is/was a real shitbag and that spouse whined about being publicly shamed when they got caught.

He went to college as a Math major. Got his degree and opened an H&R Block Franchise...then another...then another. He owned 12 locations that he sold about 15 years ago. Now he leads scuba dives off the Keys for the hell of it and counts his money.

A girl a few grades behind me invented a way to cure bricks faster. Sold it and is worth a ridiculous amount of money.

Actually, one of my best friends from HS made it. He inherited a "run down signage company" in the mid-90's. He completely turned it around and started getting major contracts, don't ask me how but props to him.

Then he started investing in commercial real estate about 20 years ago. Guy is sharp when it takes to investing money.

Fast forward almost 30 years and he's a multi-millionaire now.

When we were in high school he started cutting grass. By the end of high school, he owned a truck and a few people would work for him.

When we all went to college and many of us took on debt for our education, he bought another couple trucks. Right around when we were finishing college he bought a few rental houses with the money from his landscaping business.

A couple years after school, we were working low paying entry-level jobs, he bought his first apartment building.

10 years out of school, we were finally making money and paying off our debts; he bought his 7th apartment building and built his first commercial property and was capitalizing on the real estate downturn buying a bunch more.

20+ years after school, most of us are making good money and doing well; this guy now owns huge chuck of the real estate in Pittsburgh and is probably worth close to a billion with the way real estate has exploded.
