1 was Mr. Basketball for the state of Georgia in high school. Went to Tech and had about 11 years in the NBA.
1 went to a small college on a football scholarship. Wound up in coaching. 20 years later, he won a super bowl as the head coach.
Another went from promising football player to struggling actor to one of the main characters on Power
These all were at my school (not necessarily the same grade)

Short term rental monster. Has like 50 houses in the Southeast including a couple at 30A. Started off as the contractor other Airbnb owners used to handle their properties in college. Bought first house at 20 and snowballed. He’s sold a ton of homes along the way too.

I was friends with a guy in high schools who was just a normal unassuming dude from Chalmette. He created some tech startup thing and a couple years ago made the news bc he sold it for $500M. Must’ve only been about 40 years old.

Gave up playing baseball and on a recommendation learned to become an umpire. He was behind home plate for Game 4 of the World Series last year when the Astros threw the combined No-hitter.
Another became National Auctioneer of the Year and works for Barrett Jackson. The corporate jet flies him in.

I wouldn’t have pointed this out, but you twice misused “apart”.
“A part” is the opposite of “apart”. Your boy is a part of it. “Apart of it” can’t be right because “of it” and “apart” are contradictions, so this becomes an oxymoron.
“Apart from it” is how the word would be used, but as I stated, this is the opposite of what you meant.
