With the evidence the LAPD had, you and I would have easily been convicted and sentenced to no less than Life Without Parole.

And that whole "Try on these gloves to see if they fit" was ridiculous from the onset.

The gloves were covered in blood, had dried out and anyone who has had leather get wet and then dry out knows it shrinks considerably in the process.

Then on top of that, they allow him to put on a pair of latex gloves prior to trying on the gloves. Of course they would not fit.

Ever try to put on gloves over plastic gloves?

It doesn't work ....

One juror commented "This payback for Rodney King."

Justice was framed. The threat of L.A. Riots, Part II helped sacrifice the correct verdict.

Why in Gods name the prosecution didnt then produce a brand new, exact match of the gloves, and have him try those on, boggles the mind

because just because they are the same brand/model doesn't necessarily mean they'll be the exact same fit.
the defense would then find another pair brand new that also didn't fit.

"guilty" in the legal sense of the term or "guilty" as in he did it?

the prosecution botched the case.
and Cochrane did just enough to show it was "possible" (how ever far fetched, still "possible") that evidence was tainted and/or planted.

and this was mid-90s so our understanding of DNA evidence was not at the same level it is today. And people hadn't watching 15 years of perfect evidence type cases on CSI.
So it was a lot easier to convince 12 people that the DNA wasn't "clear cut" than it would be today.

I would say in a regular case these would all be reasonable arguments. In this case IMHO not of these things really had anything to do with it. He was going to be found not guilty for socio-political reasons.

I have always said, if he didn't do it, he was less than three feet from the guy that did.

I'm not sure Simpson did it. Maybe I'm naive. He probably did.

I just don't think regular people come through the entire bizarre experience

That's because he was not a regular person. He was clearly a sociopath

The prosecution having him try on the glove has to be the dumbest thing ever done in court. Faking that a glove doesn’t fit is so easy, especially over latex gloves. I was just a kid, but knew that was dumb.

OJ was a bully that grew up in the San Francisco hood. His dad left the family when OJ was little. His dad humiliated the family when he became a local celebrity in drag shows. OJ had a notorious mean streak and a vicious temper and discovering his athletic ability saved him from a life of crime. He was a total con man and fraud as a man, he basically played a character in public his whole life.

Reading stories from his friends, his associates, his ex-wife, Nicole, his Bills and 49er team mates it is clear that the guy was a narcissist and borderline personality disorder so the jump to sociopath and even psychopath because of his temper is not a big one.

he had received knife training for the TV movie Frog Men and he had access to the type of knife used in the crime from that training

This one always lands similarly to McDonald’s coffee for me - where everyone has huge opinions but few remember the details.

Did he do it? Near certainly

Did the police catastrophically mess up? Yup

Did the prosecution suck? Sure thing.

Paired with a general appetite to say you can’t continue to being that type of law enforcement and…..

Your "colleagues" are either dumbasses or racists or some combination of the two.

Respectfully submitted.

Nicole’s blood was found on socks in OJ’s bedroom.

She was married to him for years.

What if her period was heavy and while he drove to CVS, she put a sock in it?

Don’t be torn. Eight black jurors, two mixed race, two white. Less than 4 hours to deliberate.

Since his death on 4/10, the secretary of a USC dean wrote about an NDA she and the dean were forced to sign about a meeting she observed of Kardashian (an oj friend during his time at USC) and Cochran with the dean to not disclose oj violence and sexual assault against two blonde coeds while he played football at USC days after his arrest. They kept it out of the trial.
