The thing that drops BR as a small city is the fact that our public transit is complete shite. But then again, that can be said about Louisiana in general.
that can be said for the majority of the South in general

I'll take city over country any day.

Seattle's traffic is horrific. Not sure why you're using Seattle as an example here.
Just because it has some fantastic burbs

Many burbs are simply smaller satellites of the city, smaller versions with office parks, restaurants and such.

especially traffic
if you live in the country you experience the traffic worse than someone living in the city
For sure. The worst traffic is created by people who live outside of the city and travel to the city for work.
cities are much more efficient than country areas. If everyone lived in a city the traffic wouldn't be a problem, because you would have a short distance commute and decent public transportation.

Country is better. Cities suck.

A lot of places have great suburbs. Redmond and Bellevue aren't all that different than, for instance, Naperville and Lake Forest (Chicago) or Alpharetta and Dunwoody (Atlanta). I don't think Seattle is unique in that regard (and I lived in the Seattle area for quite a while).

Live in Redmond, work in Redmond. Problem solved
Or live in Ballard, work downtown. Problem solved. If you actually live in the city traffic isn't an issue. It's mainly a problem for those who live in the suburbs and commute everyday.

Not necessarily.

Lots of folks east of Lake Washington don't commute.

I've never spent much time in Chicago.

Using anomalies doesn't add a whole lot to this discussion
This debate is centered entirely around personal preference; anyone who truly "can't understand" why someone would choose one over the other isn't intelligent.

I can dig that CAD. I need to be in close proximity to an easy drive to good restaurants and bars as well as a music scene.
I can dig country, but I want it to be in a clean area with nice scenery. Would love some "country" in Colorado or maybe North Carolina.
Living in Livingston with junked cars and trailers everywhere along with dumped trash on the side of the road is hell on earth.
