City is significantly better IMO. Great dining and entertainment options, a thriving job market, convenience factor, etc.
Right now I live within a 5-10 minute walk from probably around 40 restaurants/bars, 3 grocery stores, 3 drug stores, a hospital, my Dr's office, about 5 coffee shops, and the list goes on. I can walk to literally anything that I would ever need or want to do, and I'm not even downtown. I'm in more of a family oriented neighborhood that actually has parks, etc about 5 miles from downtown.

Also, what people consider "The city" needs to be heavily discussed.
New York City not including Staten Island or parts of Queens that are closer to Long Island. Basically every where else in the US is country.

I honestly don't think "city" in the context of this conversation when it comes to these two places. They are assuredly both cities by definition, but for the most part don't have the conveniences of living in a city.

See I've never actually considered a place like BR or Alexandria to be "The City". As far as BR is concerned. It's more of a bunch of small towns that are close to one another.

In Louisiana, true. This isn't the case everywhere

what? of course they do
like I said, the extent of the conveniences might be different, but they all have everything that everyone that likes the city life has listed

the city limits of BR has like 300k+ people. that's a city no matter how you slice it

I assure you, everyone living in the country around these towns/city, considers that city living

i guess there are like 5 cities in the US
NYC, LA, Houston, Chicago, and San Francisco

San Fran is country?

The correct answer is to split your time between both.
This is the OT, right, we all have multiple houses.

I actually think there's more of a community feel out in the country than city
It's just different strokes. Country living just isn't me. I have family that made the move out there a while back and they love it. Every time I go out there it makes me realize I'll never do it. Getting gas and groceries is an all day event and forget about restaurants. The best place by them is a truck stop. Don'g get me wrong, they make an incredible chicken fried steak but it's not worth the 45 minute drive to get there.

Bars
Restaurants
Women
Music
Parks
Festivals
Walk to anything
See people in passing everywhere
Social interaction
Much more stimulating
Haven't touched my car in a week
I'll take city over country any day

You trim it much further.
Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan and 80% of Queens is the city every where else is country

what? of course they do
Reliable public transportation
Ability to walk places
Diversity in population and food
Major airport
All of these things are essential to a city IMO, and both are lacking in all 4 categories. New Orleans does have a pretty diverse population and food scene, BR doesn't.

Houston
I've lived here since 96.
Seen a lot of change here, Houston is finally turning into what I would consider a "city".
However, I fricking hate it.
I want all of you frickers to go back to where you came from.
The traffic is becoming unbearable. I just want my porn shop/taco truck/nail salon/day care shopping centers back. Now I've got Tom Ford down the street from me.

Too be fair, this place likes to shite on people who live in the city. But then, also hates what the suburbs has become.

Ability to walk places
NOLA and certain areas of BR have this

Diversity in population and food
NOLA has it and so does BR to an extent

Major airport
I don't consider this that important
as for public transportation, that is a major deficiency for most southern cities
