Again..depends what you do. I don't rely on people/venues to have fun. I rather truly being outside.

That's why I said different strokes. I don't hunt or fish or anything but I like restaurants, live music and the ability to see most of my family with a 20 minute drive in any direction.

My perception of cities...Nice places to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

Many suburbs are no different than living in the city

most suburbs are the worse of both

I grew up in the country(town of less than 1k) and now live in a small city(Lafayette). I'd choose city life every day

Couldn't imagine my one choice for grocery shopping being Walmart
30 minute drive to a decent restaurant
my kids going to school with the type I had to go to school with

Some folks get board out in the country and prefer the convienance of city life. My closest neighbor growing up was 2-3 miles away. It was awesome but my acre that I'm about to build on is boarderd by houses on each side. It's out in the country and gives me enough room for my shite but my kids will have friends close by to play with. Doesn't hurt that my wife's godfather has 1500 acres about 15 min away.

If only we could remove all the ULL people for Lafayette. It would be a wonderful place.

Not from my experience. Most are just an extension of the city with less traffic.

NOLA and certain areas of BR have this

Unless you're on campus or downtown, where? I lived in BR almost my entire life and there was no such thing as walking.

If I lived in Colorado, Western NC, California, Wyoming, etc. I'd probably live out in the country. The Louisiana countryside doesn't do much for me aesthetically. New Orleans is a one of a kind city and I choose to make my residence there.

the worst part of suburb life is the commute with traffic

Roger, I think you are just going to have to admit that Juneau is a bit of an outlier in this discussion

are those not areas...?

and can people not walk to places in MidCity/Garden District?

like I said, the extent is different, but these places still have those conveniences

country life does not have those...period
