Usually 17 to 20%. Haven't left less than 15% in at least five years.
I like to think I know how to treat the service folks and choose good places to dine, which means fewer issues

In my location, I don't have much to go on. Maybe Outback Steakhouse . That seems to be the best we have within fair distance.

At least 20% unless the service sucks and more if it's exceptional.

You try living in Cartersville Georgia

I live in a small town where you are going to be a repeat customer of every place in town. I tip well. I've had them serve me after hours.

I've been waiting tables a long time and have found that keeping drinks full generally keeps people happy. For a lot of people it's a good indicator of whether or not you're paying attention to them.

20% and up for good service. It has to be pretty bad to only get 15% from me.

20% if the service is good to very good. A bit more for excellent. 15% for adequate. I've left nothing before, but the service was an idiot with no social skills.

Usually starts at 20% and can go either way depending on service.

I usually do some quick math in my head that comes out to just under 20%, then add or subtract a dollar or two depending on service
so like a 26.40 bill, I'll tip 4.20, then maybe round it up to 5 or 6 if the service was really good.

20%-22% on top of the bill and tax.
Posted on 1/5/16 at 10:40 am to Artie Rome
20% most of the time.
If it is terrible, I might tip less, but usually only out of laziness and rounding down.
If it's great I'll bump it a little, but not on any formula. Usually on account of pleasant young girls/dudes who are busting their arse.
I'm sure it's not proper, but I don't generally go significantly above 20% for good service at nicer establishments. Thought being that it is more anticipated there, bills are larger, and a lot of those folks are pulling in solid incomes.

It was a code back in the early 90s that if you were or had been a waiter/ bartender, you tipped a min. of 20%.
That was when the "tipped wage" was in effect...is it still?
If so it is terrible. Literally, it was like 2$ and change/ hr. for waitstaff. I hope that shite has been abolished or seriously improved, but just in case
I haven't tipped less than 20% since '92.
