How big of a tip do you leave at restaurants?

My standard is usually don't let my cup get empty if there is hardly anyone there. Especially since I can get through some damn sweet tea.

I've only come across one outstanding waitress at Applebee's , and it was during the LSU SCAR game. Left a 20 dollar tip. Best damn service I've ever had, despite the enormous crowd.

as long as things aren't completely terrible, I usually tip 20-25%. I have a soft spot for people working in that industry though so it probably has more to do with that than anything

I usually leave 20%. But it seems to me when I was a kid the standard was 10%. I have recently wondered where we got screwed with the doubling of the tip standard.

If the waitress is hot, I give her just the tip.

I actually like the place. Inexpensive and during games it can get pretty enjoyable.

Start at 20% and go up based on service level/frequency of visiting the establishment. People remember a good tipper.

Depends on where you are. I usually double the tax at a minimum, and add a few dollars depending on the service after that. I normally try to eat cheap, but I normally go for the 18-20% range at nicer restaurants.

Some antiquated standard of service.

Usually coincides with people expecting their food to be faster than possible.

Double the tax and round up to nearest dollar from there.

To answer your question, unless the service was absolutely horrific, then I just take 10% of the total and double it and round up.

1. Don't drink sweet tea, it only makes you thirstier.
2. Don't eat at Applebees.
3. Tip at least 20% unless you have bad service.

I'm a solid 20% tipper no matter how the service is.

I hardly ever eat out but when I do I usually get pretty good service.

But I don't go to Applebee's. I go to real restaurants.
