Dumbass must have killed her during a fight since he called police and tried to cover it up. Probably would have a better plan with what to do in the aftermath if it was more premeditated. A wealthy 38 year old looking at life in prison or the death penalty. Should kill himself now while he’s out and save us the time and money.

I guess the only “silver lining” out of this terrible story is that he didn’t kill the two other children as well. It seems like that happens in cases like this.

One of our former employees did that - David Logan Roy. He murdered his wife, then his three little kids. He’s in Angola, I believe.

Not likely the death penalty for a crime of passion like that.

Ninja please. In Texas that’s death-as it should be.

My bet is he flees the Country.

It's the worst part of town you can buy a home in because the property/house values won't go up much more for a long time. Do people think there's just hundreds of thousands or millions of people that will harp in on $1 mil+ shite homes?

No, they'll move more westward where houses are 400k or 500k in decent parts, then those will drive up while Heights stays stagnant. Would not advise anyone to move to buy a house there as it will be the same price today in 5 years.

So your solution is to move further away for a cheaper home? This is genius, why has no one else thought about this before?

There's plenty of people that don't mind a somewhat questionable area just to have a better location especially if they don't have kids or private school is in play.

no, what will happen in the heights is what has happened to West Univ/Southside Place/Braeswood. The lots themselves will become so valuable that people will tear down the house and build a brand new house on it . The reason this has not happened sooner is the downtown work crowd is not growing as fast as the Medical Center work crowd and the Junior High/High Schools in The Heights are bad. So young families in the Heights move out to the suburbs when their kids get out of elementary school

some parts are for sure

it is kind of setup like uptown new orleans in that parts of it are close to bad neighborhoods, the streets are pretty tight and there are cars parked in the streets everywhere. So it is a hotbed of burglary, car theft, petty crime etc

bad guys can walk or ride a bike into the heights and do bad things and be gone very quickly.

the heights has a flooding problem too.

Heights has some strict deed restrictions that will/has slowed what happened to Bellaire/West U

Heights high needs to turn into Lamar 2 for families to stay but i doubt that ever happens without HISD getting its shite together. Lamar has the country club on both ends of the street rep from 60 years ago.

Love how the heights is now a questionable area because a multi millionaire snapped and killed his wife. Like Brentwood is a bad area because that’s where OJ killed Nicole.

There are significantly worse areas in Houston proper as far as crime and homeless.

And then real estate investment advice saying to move to a McMansion in the suburbs as opposed to a neighborhood anchored by proximity to downtown and actual things to do, as well as some of the only zoning protections in Houston proper. That’s a choice.

off topic but...

two things that will be a drag on the Heights and makes it incomparable to West U. West U/Bellaire/Braeswood while they were definitely middle class 1920-1980's they were always mostly white, which if I'm being honest from a real estate standpoint-it greases the wheels of gentrification. It also has a dedicated Fire/Police. The Heights has a large minority/immigrant community with apartment complexes and non-continuous residential areas. It won't ever reach the level of West U/Southside. Its current bump is because they've finally allowed liquor sales and grocery stores/restaurants finally went in.

Further it is oddly cut off from the rest of the city by galleria traffic to the west, congested city streets to the south, and downtown traffic on the east. It can take 45 minutes to go 5 miles in any of those directions during rush hour. West U/Southside is better located and largely self contained
