This is nonsense. Houma is awesome. I have a good time every time I get down there. It is a little trashy east of the intracoastal, but there is no reason to go there. Houma is also super safe. My parents have not locked their door in decades. They don't even have a key to their house.

Also, Terrebonne Parish public schools are not bad. In fact they are very good. Three of the four high schools are ranked in the top 50 in the state with high college/career readiness, good standard test scores, and high graduation rates.

You think? There are schools in Texas in which their facilities probably make FCS schools jealous.

Apparently it was a great place in the 1940s, 50s and 60s

it was a great place to be a kid in the 70s/80s up until you were a junior or senior in high school. It got "limiting" at that point.

I don't care for it now for more than a weekend.

I'll extend that to being a kid in the 90s/00s. Loved growing up there, but I felt a need to get out right after high school. Hate to call it a trap so "limiting" works.

A few friends are teachers in TPSD from what they tell me, things are picking up in the schools as they are adjusting with the times albeit a little late.

Give me an extended holiday weekend home and I'm good for a few months. I'll still make a drive to New Orleans to break monotony when home.
