I spanked the piss out of my boys when they were little and did wrong. I continually talk to them about social issues to make sure they aren't going off the liberal end. They aren't. In fact, I'm damn proud of the level of common sense they have regarding the whole black lives matter thing. My oldest is going into his senior year of high school and he understands to not post political things on any social media because of the backlash he could receive over it.

I’m 27 and I’ll be real when I was in college I absolutely knew my age group was the deluge.
The political dialogue that was normal with people my age was unlike anything my parents had ever heard of. They were focused on universal healthcare and I tried warning them that the insane shite that was about to be thrown their way with the social justice movement was going to seek to destroy fundamental Western ideals

When people finally realize that social media and the media as a whole is not reality AND this extreme behavior represents a miniscule fraction of the overall population, there will fewer dying of hyperventilation like this guy.
Oh and raising 3 teenage/young adults who are respectful well-mannered and already more accomplished than 90% of their peers.
Just need to be a parent and not their friend... and stay off social media.

I refuse to respect a cop if he's being an a-hole to me because he went to police school for less time than a hairdresser and someone gave him a badge and a gun.

/Sidebar/ I have an infinite more respect for our military. THAT is actual training. Their OATH includes "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
A lot of our good family friends are Westpoint grads. Can't tell you how much respect and admiration they earn just by graduating, before entering into the field of battle. If we put police officers through the same rigors as those in our Army, Navy, and Air Force, perhaps we'd be better off both ways.
