My wife does this to me with everydamn thing. Gives me a list of a zillion things to do, adds to it before I can finish it, then bitches because I don't watch the kids enough and it's always her(not by a longshot) and heaven forbid I forget or didn't hear something on her everchanging list of things to do. Sometimes I think about having an affair bit then I remember that I don't like being around my wife, having a girlfriend on the side would ve way too much trouble.

God damn.

I always knew I had a good, happy relationship but reading some of y’all’s, I honestly couldn’t have a better one.

To all those struggling, keep your head up, you’ll get through it.

Well, maybe you should be even more willing show her that you can certainly understand all she is going through during this uncomfortable situation by going the extra mile to restore some normalcy.

Drop her off at a shelter until the power comes back on.

Sounds like you need to move. Why put your family through this crap when there are so many other states and areas to live?

A woman get's extra extra bitchy if there's inconvenience. Not all women, but a majority do. My wife is the same. I sit for a little bit after work, but after that I'm picking up, cooking, cleaning (I'm just a neat freak and hate clutter), trying to get time in with the kids, whole 9. But 1 little fkg mistake, you'd swear I sleep all day. Then I just lose my shite. But it blows over and it's marriage.

The People

Damn, I feel for you. You sound like a hard worker/provider and a shockingly calm person to have handled this like you did.

Get the hell away from those people. They are ungrateful and they are taking advantage of your generosity. You will see that leaving them to fend for themselves will simplify your life in so many ways.

That woman could take you for every penny you have and it would be worth it to get away from all those people.

She read this thread and immediately changed her tune to one of appreciation and gratitude.

Been married 38 years. It's a 2 way street. I take care of the outside shite, she takes care of the inside shite. I work outside the house, she works inside the house. Small kids are a wrinkle,, ours are grown and gone. I always have a hot and damn good meal. Our money is our money no separate accounts. We live the good life and suffer mistakes together. I can't tell you what to do, but I've been managing expectations for 40 years. Good luck.
This.

Don't make it more complex than it needs to be.

I think of my marriage (conceptually) as two folks back-to-back...

Don’t fault the mother in law too much, you’d do the same for your child and grandchild too.

No. No I would not. If my kids are being little bitches I’m not going to stand up for them. They need to learn it’s stupid to be stupid.

This should be expected. Sounds like your wife just had a baby so her hormones' are all out of whack. Also, watching said kid is stressful enough. Trust me, I much rather do manual labor in the heat all day than try to keep my baby girl entertained all day. Besides, just like you come to TD to vent, she's just looks to you, her most trusted partner to vent. And that's all she's doing. So just let her and try to see it from her perspective. And then, when everyone is in a better headspace tell her how your feeling through all of this. You are both stressed out so give each other some space.
