A retention pond is not a pond. Quit putting lipstick on a pig.

One thing to check that has only been mentioned once is most HOAs have a specific time period to notify you from the START of construction. I am on our board and we have had to scramble a couple of times to make our 30 day limit for unauthorized construction, in both cases what was being built was specifically verboten.

There also weekly stories of homeowners doing things like putting up giant middle finger statues in their front yards too, so there's that.

Anyone that buys property in an HOA deserves all the ridicule and headache that goes with it.

Do people really have this much of an issue with HOA's? I've been in multiple neighborhoods with them for years and never even spoken to anyone. As long as you aren't burning a cross in your front yard and can act like an adult they are't any sort of problem

This board makes them out to be Nazi's waiting for a reason to kick your door in

Some are, some aren't.

Regardless you're giving sovereignty of your private property to your neighbors.

I don't have a problem with HOAs. I just think the people that choose to live in these little fascist communities are odd.

Thanks but I CHOSE to say what I said.

Appreciate your support though!!!

You see, telling you to frick off would not have done much of any good. The reply I actually gave you I'd hope would help you understand the flaw in your one-sided response/thinking. Though based on your responses, it sounds like that simply will not happen.

This is the norm but it's very clear in this thread that some people don't believe or realize that and think that the horror stories or the norm.
