Yes but you can influence. I've coached now rec for years in baseball and just started football.

I had to tell a dad to quit pulling his kid off that it confuses him and makes it harder to keep the team focused.

If he wanted to continue he can remove his kid from the team. He can coach at home or sign up and coach on the field. We always need them.

It fixed it.

I've had to tell a dad to quit hollering at his kid when we came into the dugout. No one wanted to hear it and if it continued I'd have him banned from all the games.

Fixed that shite too.

It’s one thing to just say it, but it’s way over the top when you actually believe it and expect others to agree with you.

My kids ran for Coach Dupe and they performed and ran faster. He taught them how to run faster, sportsmanship and life.

And they were State Champs because of him. Many years out from it and he still influences them. All of them.

Makes me really sad for that kid if he didn't know what his parents were doing. The hazing he is probably receiving is legendary.

Racing is great in that respect. Wrestling too. No subjectivity.

Years ago I coached a coaches pitch team. We had one kid that only played catcher. His mama was on my arse to play him somewhere else besides catcher. I kept telling her it was for his safety but she wouldn’t shut up. The last game of the year I put him at second base to appease his mama. Low a behold a popup was hit to him. He put his glove up to catch it but he didn’t put it up far enough and the ball went right over his glove and hit him in the nose. I found out later that he broke his nose trying to catch it. Sometimes coaches know a lot more than the parents.

It's why track and field is the most pure sport there is. Track and field is the superior athletic competition.

Coach made his decision…we’ll see if he picks up another title either this year or next.

You don’t think he knows that he has the best players? (Since he’s won 6 out of 9)

He’ll probably win again with or without your son

When parents spend half their kids college money on sports camps they deserve to play, right?

I’m pretty sure I’ve come across a few of those parents on this site, if you’re child was blessed with the type of talent to be in big time college football, camps don’t matter. Those Power schools will find your son.

Can't imagine a lot of coaches lining up to work for that guy.

His kid is one of the outfield butterfly chasers. Clearly doesn't enjoy the sport, which makes me sad when his dad is so hard on him.

I think we may have found the baseball version of Tim Riggins. Let's make a sequel and call it "Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Night Lights"

Your son is obviously very talented, and I know it’s not just your opinion, as national evaluators have him ranked really high, as well.

In fact, there’s probably a decent chance he will be mentioned on the Rant in the next few years in game day conversations, even if most people aren’t aware of his connection.

Hell, I don’t think most people knew of Lache Seastrunk or Kristian Fulton’s rant connections, lol.

Still, I don’t see what is so egregious about asking a player to play left wing instead of central midfield, even if it isn’t the ideal position change.

I had a friend who had multiple mid level D-1 offers and he played out of position in high school, playing central mid because it’s kind of like playing as a run first QB, where many of the best players go.

There was also a guy who played in the youth team of a prominent Brazilian team until he was 14, when he realized he wasn’t going to ever make it at that level. He also played out of position.

These were great players, and they didn’t consider it a big deal.

These rich arse parents need to be tarred and feathered. fricking living vicariously through their kids. Let them be kids. I have a deep unsettling guttural dislike for these kid of parents!

His record is 2-4 and O-3 in his region. The controversy is that his son is his quarterback, and of course, when you are losing, it's the fault of the quarterback.

So it was August 3rd and the coach already set his son as the starting QB? Guess he thought he was Coach Prime, huh?

Pretty shitty to call out other parents for asking for playing time when you clearly just gave a starting job to your own kid.

I was a middle school football coach at a Dallas ISD school and had a parent try to get me fired for not playing his kid at running back. The kid was really fat and kind of stupid (couldn't remember his plays or defensive schemes). He accused me of being racist eventhough our starter was black. Last time I checked, the kid was a junior and wasn't getting any playing time on one of the worst teams in DISD.

My son was far from benched, he was the leading scorer and the reason they won State…he just had to do so at left forward instead of from center midfield. It wasn’t the style of soccer he liked though…he could generate tons of space for himself playing in the middle and rip the long shots he was so good at. At left forward it was a fight, someone is always on you and you’re never getting shots outside of the box. He did it very well and scored first in most every game, racked up tons of assists as well. Just never wanted to cleat up in that sport again.

Pahahaha sounds like the coach put him at the best position possible for him. If he’s a scorer, he needs to be at the front. Center mid is about facilitating and getting the ball to the scorer then assisting on D. It’s not full on out attack mode at center mid. Obviously there was a better conductor on the team than your son.

ETA: it’s also common place for position changes based on teams. I was a right winger for select and ODP but a 9 in high school because we had no true 9 on the team
