So you think there are powerhouse soccer teams in Mississippi’s 3A division? His school has won State 6 times in the last 9 years…didn’t win 2017, 2019, or 2022…my son could play out of position and still get that trophy last year. Put him in the middle and it would carnage.

Unfortunately soccer season is right during his kicking camp season and the coach was being a dick about that too.

My son was far from benched, he was the leading scorer and the reason they won State…he just had to do so at left forward instead of from center midfield. It wasn’t the style of soccer he liked though…he could generate tons of space for himself playing in the middle and rip the long shots he was so good at. At left forward it was a fight, someone is always on you and you’re never getting shots outside of the box. He did it very well and scored first in most every game, racked up tons of assists as well. Just never wanted to cleat up in that sport again.

By your account he was the best player on the team at any position:

Absolutely insane reasoning for my son having to give up his position…because my son would be better at the other position than the kid in his spot…no shite, he’d be better at every other position…shouldn’t mean he gives up the one he’s the best in state at. Glad he quit.

There may be more to this than what was said, but if your son playing left forward covered an otherwise weaker position compared to the drop off playing in the center by his replacement there, why wouldn't the coach do that? It seems logical, and your son was still a starter.

Oh I understand…and it worked…it just sucked for my son to take that abuse when he otherwise wouldn’t have in the middle. Coach made his decision…we’ll see if he picks up another title either this year or next.

This is ultimately where I'm going; how is this abuse to have your son still be a starter at another position that he excels at but does not prefer? Not saying it doesn't suck, but it doesn't sound that awful to this complete stranger.

The point of the thread is that the other kid’s parents give money and support to the program and that got him the most coveted position.

Your granddaughter likely blocked a few too many passes by the coach.

They were 1-9 last year and are 4-1 so far this year.

I’m guessing the undeserving players will now play. Watch them end the year 4-6. (Or 4-7 if they manage to have a good enough region record to make the playoffs)

Sophomore year soccer, getting benched for a couple of shite freshmen I was way better than because I was an introvert, one of the things that spiraled me into a deep depression.

Sweetwater is a small town that produces zero great athletes. Don’t understand this mentality at all.
