Maybe it’s because her grandfather is a jockstrap.

I feel your pain. Just don't understand how as a Sophomore she began the season playing varsity rotation and then all of a sudden, and I remember the exact game, got yelled at and replaced and barely played again. This has carried over to this season. She made it back to rotation played the entire 5 sets in a match earlier in the season missed a serve in the 5th set and was immediately pulled out and replaced by a FRESHMAN who was way over her head. Because of injuries she still got to play sparingly but now has missed the last 7 games. Has not come off of the bench ONE time.

Sounds like he played the kids that gave them the best chance to win instead of the ones whose parents donated the most money to the school.

Some parents can't put one foot in front of the other without tripping and never played the sport, yet they see their kid as an all-American athlete and knows what it takes. It's sick.

There was a mom on one of my soccer teams that knew the sport pretty well and was supportive of all the other kids. She would even give constructive advice to us.

But she spent half of every game shouting at her son and pointing out everything he was doing wrong.

It was a very good team, with a couple of guys who played college baseball and some guys who moved onto more competitive soccer, but I can only imagine how much she drained her kid’s enthusiasm.

We were 8 to 10 years old for this, btw.

There isn't an employed coach on the planet who would bench a 1st team all state player who didn't give him an extreme reason to.

My son was far from benched, he was the leading scorer and the reason they won State…he just had to do so at left forward instead of from center midfield. It wasn’t the style of soccer he liked though…he could generate tons of space for himself playing in the middle and rip the long shots he was so good at. At left forward it was a fight, someone is always on you and you’re never getting shots outside of the box. He did it very well and scored first in most every game, racked up tons of assists as well. Just never wanted to cleat up in that sport again.

It's getting harder and harder to hire teachers much less coaches. Parents have lost their damn minds and kids all think they are going pro. It's the reason I stopped coaching years ago.

My son got a job at a really good HS and he quit coaching after 2 years. I asked him why and he said parents. He also said, I coach like you coached and you can't do that anymore.

My son’s dealt with it too…he sucked it up for his freshman season, then quit the team. He could have handed them a state championship every year he was in high school…but nope.

Absolutely insane reasoning for my son having to give up his position…because my son would be better at the other position than the kid in his spot…no shite, he’d be better at every other position…shouldn’t mean he gives up the one he’s the best in state at. Glad he quit.

you’re going to be so disappointed when your son is an accountant or selling insurance in five years.

Parents think their kids are all Americans.

It is interesting how much difference the lack of a capital letter can make regarding a sentence's meaning. Before I realized what you meant I wondered for a millisecond if some of the kids were Mexican or Canadian.

Not trying to be the capitalization police it just struck me how much difference "all American" / "All American" makes in that particular sentence.
