I figured, but they don't need to be living in the city on that low of a salary.

$8K on vacations. Idiots can't manage money worth a damn.

For 8k a family of 3 (2 adults and one small child?)could take a hell of a couple of vacations.

Where are they getting car insurance for $1500? 1 or 2 cars? Minimum policies without uninsured motorist?

$6000 in car payments? 1 or 2 cars?

Is this couple living in a $700k house yet driving kias?

These people have no sense of a budget.
just because they aren't slumming in Destin for two long weekend a year doesn't mean they aren't budgeting. The only they could/should cut back on is their mortgage and clothing, IMO.

Also, these aren't real people .

I assume it sucks but worth it in the long run. Man, I hope my kid isn't a shithead.

And in chattanooga, DINK money goes a LONG way, but our lifestyle hasn't changed since having a kid.... Yet (other than free time wise)

There are a lot of sensationalized bullshite is this hypothetical. This isn’t scraping by and the line items have some major flaws.

A married couple gets standard deductions, personal exemptions, dependents that are going to push their effective tax rate well below 30% on the federal side. I’m not familiar enough with CA state and city tax to know the amounts there, regardless those should be separate line items.

$700K house is not a $2K note each month unless they put some serious cash as a down payment.

$24K sounds very high for childcare but I don’t know enough here.

$8K vacations...yeah, the opposite of scraping by.

Thousands on lessons...

I could squeeze out at least $30K in net worth growth out of that budget without any trouble.

This resembles my wife and I.

At one time we were banking 180K a year and living paycheck to paycheck.

I couldn't figure out what the F#$% was going on

That's always the concern. I see people with great kids and it makes me think, "you know, it doesn't seem so bad." Then I see kids that come from good families who decide to be rebellious and become shitty.

I'm out.
