This idea is like quantum mechanics to so many around here.

maybe they did, and that's what they're calling child care.

Didn't have to read past the first line to laugh. 24k for childcare

That's actually one of the more realistic lines on the page. Childcare has shot up just like college tuition. It's absurd.

Now, what's ridiculous here (and may have already been pointed out) is they only have one kid they are paying childcare for, but that kid also has some kind of lessons? How old is this kid? That 24k is probably private school, which means that is instantly their biggest disposable expense and primarily what is killing their budget.

I wish my vehicle insurance was only 1500/year. No way in hell they are insured with State Farm. I think it’s time for me to tell State Farm to stick it up there arse.

I paid $1,300 per month for my kids' daycare up here. That's per child, and they were not in the most expensive daycare up here.

Louisiana has some of the highest insurance in the nation. I'm beginning to realize the average poster here is much less intelligent than I have been giving them credit for.

How many kids do they have? If they have two in daycare in SF, I don't see what's so unusual.

It specifically says one child

No wonder the democrat party is deep in debt if it has members like this with such an insane fiscal mindset.

They could eliminate two vacations or at least improvise down to one and make it cheaper, start learning how to cook at home, start wearing the same clothes in a cycle, cut your own damn grass, stop driving everywhere so much.

God I hate broke arse millionaires that fly too close to the sun. I hope they get burnt if they're going to be irresponsible like this.

What are you talking about? Included what? The things in their budget?

It's a hypothetical. Try reading. And the fact that they aren't actually scraping by just makes your analysis of their situation worse.

I didn’t read the full article...ok, then the author who wrote the article is a moron. Either way, the budget is absurd, no matter what region you are in.

This just confirms to me that you can live up against your means regardless of whatever you make in salary.

Good friend in the bay area was trying to hire a Nanny. Going rate is $70k/year and that is if you pay cash under the table. Nanny Share is really popular there.

On the train right now and didn't read closely. I honestly don't think that is extremely outrageous for SF.

What the frick is this nonsense? They cover all of their costs, including insurance and retirement, while enjoying nice things and vacations, all while still having an extra $500 left over for anything else that might come up.

Seriously, what am I missing besides a bunch of phonies on the OT pretending they do better?

A married couple gets standard deductions, personal exemptions, dependents that are going to push their effective tax rate well below 30% on the federal side. I’m not familiar enough with CA state and city tax to know the amounts there, regardless those should be separate line items.

I just assumed they are including state, county, and city income tax in their rate

Ok, then they could likely send their child to regular child care and be doing better financially.
