2K a month for childcare?hell naw...momma is staying home.

not to mention you can write off childcare

$8K on vacations. Idiots can't manage money worth a damn.
That's probably about right for a family of 3 to go on TWO vacations, though.

So they;
Live in a $700,000 house
Send their child to a $2,000/month daycare/school
Go on two $4,000 vacations a year
Send their child to $500/month worth of “lessons”
But $3,000 worth of clothes per year
Yet they are “just scraping by”? Give me a break.

If you're maxing out two 401ks, budgeting $8K on vacations, $3K on clothes, $5K on lessons, donating $2K to charity, another $3K on "Something always comes up" and still have $5700 left over, that's not just getting by.
And how does someone that has money left over, and makes a combined $200K annually, end up with $3K in consumer debt outside of their mortgage and car payments?

Let's find some savings baws!
Food cost for 3 people at 1k a month?????? Can get this down to 600 Easily. +4800
Two Vacations a year?!! How about lets reduce that to one and make it a 2 grand max budget. +6000
Their Life insurance policy seems high?
Clothes 3 grand? WTF are they buying?! Baby GAP?? Reduce this to 1k. +2000
Children's Lessons? Mother frickers be parents and teach your kids life!!! +5000
Charity? frick CHARITY! +2000
In total I found an extra almost 15k in savings.
fricking California Liberals.

They need to buy more term life insurance.

It seems low to me. If Dad dies wife loses $100k a year.

They should be able to find a 400-500k home

$700k home? Yeah....that is way too much for someone making $200k
In most markets. However in this hypothetical they are living in San Francisco.

I was talking about the premium.
Then again my company pays for my life insurance on top of a 2x salary payment. I do have a separate policy with State Farm that I pay like 20 bucks a month on.

think he means the cost
I have $1 mil on me and it's only $700/year

30% effective tax rate is way higher than they actually pay.

I only glanced at it but where is the health care cost?
They must have really good health insurance?
If this proves anything it is that they don't know how to manage their finances.

Statement still holds up
perhaps they should move farther out of the city?

I don't think those exist (minus foreclosures) in San Francisco.

24k for child care
That's not crazy at all. Two kids at $1k per month each is about what I pay for full time day care. That's the ballpark of what it costs.

There's currently one listing on Zillow in San Fran that is under $500k and greater than 1000 sqft.
