Say you identify as a butt, and when asked a question stand up turn around and use your hands to move your butt cheeks while you respond.

I find it very interesting and educational. I served on a Grand Jury for 6 months.

How many days would they meet in a typical month?

Not everyone works Monday-Friday, 9-5 schedules. If you work weekends or evenings/nights and get summoned for jury duty on Monday morning when you'd normally be off work, it sucks. Or if you work a job where you depend on commission or tips, you ain't getting paid to sit in a courthouse all day.
This is fair. But I put upholding the Constitution up there equally...

so you cannot be fired. nothing to do with my point

When employees are called or subpoenaed to server on a state petit or grand jury, or central jury pool, the employer is required to pay up to one (1) days wages and the employee cannot be required to take any vacation, sick, or other accrued personal leave while responding to the call or subpoena. Do your fricking civil duties. If the defendant in your case is guilty of stealing something from the government will you empathize or prosecute?

How many jury trials take that long?
A lot of them go very quickly and are done in 1-2 days.
Long trials that take a week or more happen but they are the exception rather than the rule.

So you're going to get paid less than what they charge you to park at the courthouse?
Why are they even charging you to park at the courthouse?

Call in a bomb threat to the courthouse and get it cancelled

Why do people always bitch about jury duty? It's free time away from work, you don't really have to do much, and you get to frick some poor person's life up.

several months ago I reported for jury duty and not enough showed up to allow selection for a trial so it was deferred. judge proceeded to discuss with us the sorry state of jury participation. fines and jail were described as a financial looser for the county. cost more to process than recover with penalty. I believe that low participation is due to disrespect of the legal system

Ask if the death penalty is on the table. Defense attorneys love to hear that from potential jurors.

I don't understand how some people have never gotten a jury notice..In my life I must have gotten at least 8 of them..But have never served..Since I have moved to Jefferson Parish (10 years) I have gotten 3..
