Francine made landfall at like 6pm. Made it to the populated areas by dark.

Knowing reed he will storm chase tonight, then head to Florida and ride an airboat in the hurricane

Reed is one of those people that everyone will expect to die a violent but awesome death by a storm, but it’ll end up being something random like choking on a piece of food and we will all be like “well that was anti climatic”

This one that hit Acapulco last year...how did they whiff so badly on it? This is what nightmares are made of.

The models were haywire for starters. The NHC actually talked about overriding the models in their discussion because of how impractical they were (models ended up being way wrong on path). The storm also intensified more in 24 hours than any other storm other than Patricia. There were no analogs either, as no storm of that strength has ever hit that area. It was also a fairly small storm so intensification was a little easier.

About 24 hours before the rapid intensification the NHC started talking about the possibility, but didn’t forecast anything concrete.

Big miss, but the tools were also poor.

I’m in Wakulla county and we now have a mandatory evacuation for the entire county. Looks to be where landfall is. Definitely concerned for us and eastern Franklin county.

Hoping the best. That area is great and under appreciated. Wakulla Springs is one of my favorite places.

Delta. What part of MS do you farm? Not specific but what area?

Do you know a sweet potato farmer named Jimmy Turner in Belzoni?

How about Jimbo King. He was from Cleveland and worked for Farm Bureau about 20 years ago.

This is a fast moving storm.. it’s going to potentially effect a lot of people, not just those on the coast.. I expect those near the coast to know what to do

I wasn’t trying to be sarcastic with my comment. I was talking about landfall scenarios and the way local and national media fear monger people into not caring. People that have always been down here knows when to take it serious, not so much for newcomers.
