I am calm. If that response upsets him, that's on him.

The flooding near my neighborhood is anything but a nothing-burger.
We have reached the point of the hurricane thread where
1. People shite on the NHC for missing the track by 30 miles
2. People pretend it wasn’t that strong a storm because a few readings outside the eyewall had TS winds
3. Someone 300 miles inland claims it was a nothingburger

appreciate the answer.
4 downvotes from the Weather Thread Hall Monitors for asking a polite question about Lake Lure. OT ladies are neg-vibing hard today.

A Lake Lure dam break would go down the Broad river, breaking smaller dams almost all the way to Columbia SC. I think Lake Murray would stop it, but I have seen the projections of what happens to Columbia were Murray Dam ever to fail and it is grim.

Impressive how closely the early projections matched the curvaceous path of the storm.

Don't sweat it, Pimp.
To answer your original question, it runs through a lot of uninhabited and medium inhabited areas, eventually going through Columbia, and Charleston on it's way to the Atlantic. Short answer, a lot of people, for a long way, are fooked.

It’s not going to be a well developed storm with strong winds.
Right.

not to mention if this second storm next weekend drives more moisture up there it's gonna get really bad
that's been my biggest fear, a hurricane harvey followed immediately by another rainmaker, I don't think any state would be in a position to not have major flooding

My worry for dam failures is the lack of warnings.
Twenty miles east of Knoxville we lost power this am between 2 and 5. Got it back for fifteen minutes around 9am, and still don't have it back.
WLOS in Asheville and WBIR in KNoxville were up to speed then, but Lake Lure wasn't mentioned.
For perspective: Fpr a ;long time Lake Lure was famous for having been the honeymoon destination for Jimmy and Roslyn Carter.
Early this am. the Tennessee interstates had more single car wrecks on all of them Nashville eastward.
ETA: don't even think about driving in western NC or East TN through the Smokies. LINKgets you to TDOT maps and go east to see how many North Carolina roads are closed.

Problem with the dams is it's usually water coming fast without much warning. We saw a lot of that in Eastern Kentucky recently when they had a system that dumped several inches of rain within a short period and it just came rushing down those mountains into the hollers/valleys.
I know the gorge going into Asheville washed out at one point from one of the Hurricanes a few years back and took quite a bit of time to build back up. Water off those mountains is insane.
