The morons at Georgia Power sent all our contractors to Florida so we could be without power for 5-6 days. Just terrible decision making

This thing was massive


Hurricane Ike (September 2008) did similar but it went further West before coming back around. Left several folks here in Louisville without power for a week or better. We had gust up in the lower 70s for that.

Does it matter if it's potential people who could die from the dam failing?

But to answer your question, from what I recall, it's mostly scattered development but there's a lot of recreation in the area where people are probably staying from out of town (I know alot of folks her travel to the Smokies and Blue Ridge for fall break this week and the next).

The damn is also sizable and will likely cause flooding further down the Broad River if it lets loose.

the dam is just west of the Lake Lure Town Generating Plant on the Broad River.
