IS keeping your fishing boat in your side yard just a Louisiana and Mississippi thing (to escape storm surges) or do some Floridians do it too?

Anyone see FL Man in the Caddy stall out on the Midnight Pass cam?
Gunned it through not-so-deep water and had to bail out on foot.

I’m pretty shocked this thing will be in Atlanta by morning.

Up in north GA rain has picked up over the last hour, no real wind.

House is on a decent slope in the neighborhood so not worried about flooding

I’ve had a buddy that moved his cattle operation to Mariana from Lake county back in like 08/09. Small world.

It's moving fairly quickly too, which is both good and bad. The good news for inland areas like that, is that it's not stalling out or slowing down and dumping a ton of rain. The bad news is that it barely has time to weaken before hitting metro Atlanta or areas further inland like that

Just a crazy hurricane all around with how quickly it's ramped up and became the beast it is, this one will have huge impacts inland unlike some of the other superstorms

I can look off to the east from central North AL and the sky is almost black. Radar says it is rain and storms over near Chattanooga. Wild to see it so obviously dark that far away.

I'm really curious to see where it goes as it comes through. NHC interactive cone has the track pretty much through downtown,

Glenn Burns (retired Atl weatherma) posted earlier on Facebook he was in a media session with NWS Atl and they were thinking it would be east of the official track.

Earlier someone posted the HRRR future radar model and it made it look like center of circulation passed over the I-85/I-985 junction.

Air Force Hurricane Hunters are on their way back into Helene. One of the NOAA planes is already in there.
