Either storm chasers or idiots. Possibly idiot storm chasers.

We now have a bonafide closed eye of deep circulation.

Horrible scenario but many tall trees around the house may force the decision.

That decision should be to leave and go somewhere without trees. Out of all the storms I have ridden out, the sound of snapping pines will never leave me.

I'm interested in seeing if any chasers get caught where they shouldn't be tonight. The last several hurricanes have been surge under-performers which creates complacency in the chasing community. There's a lot of flat land for inland surge in that part of Florida and not a great road network.

Atl shouldn’t get more than 50 mph winds. We get that all the time in spring and fall with fronts from the west.

More concerned about the rain. That is the problem since we got 4 inches yesterday

hopefully not in Cedar Key... one crappy road in/out and it will surely be impassable due to downed trees

Only 4 inches in Atlanta probably means good things for Trump’s prospects.

Is Gainesville going to get smacked with it shifting further east?

They have some recent experience with the Perry area which they can draw from, but more "chasers" show up with every storm it seems.

That’s sustained for quite a while after 7-10 inches of rain….that’s NOT what we get in the spring and fall. Saturated ground +50mph winds (maybe some higher gusts) does not bode well for these tall pines all over

It’ll be moving so fast it won’t be for hours. Plus if we are on the west side winds will be less

Buoy located near 25°42'51" N 83°39'0" W just reported a 27.9 ft wave so Helene is pushing some water around.

Probably Travis McGee.

Bonus points to those who get the reference.
