It gets sort of tricky inside of the boundary. Technically, you have to be either a tribal member or what’s called a first descendant to live on designated tribal land, but the tribe won’t stop you if you sell to a non tribal member. You just have to give tribal members first opportunity. 99% of native people don’t sell, so it’s never really been an issue. They don’t pay taxes on any land owned that’s been declared tribal.
Fun fact about the Qualla Boundary:
It’s not actually a reservation at all. The EBCI purchased the land back from the federal government and was granted sovereignty. Tribal elders just keep reservation on the sign entering the boundary for tourist purposes

Look out Piper Aircraft, you're next.
Seneca, Cherokee, Navajo, Mojave, Cheyenne, Apache, Comanche , Seminole.
And don't stop there, US Army on deck.
Apache, Cheyenne, Chinook, Mohawk, Chickasaw, Iroquois, Kiowa, Choctaw.
I'm sure there are a few others I forgot.

Was curious to see what the military has still in service re injun named items. The google box says
This gets brought up every now and then and I assume it'll get changed before long. We have unit patches with Indians and arrowheads, etc and I assume those will be done away with as well.

Heck, even scouting has a lot of native American reference really. I always thought it was a compliment. You have to admire the way they lived and could figure out so many ways to survive. Incredible honestly.

It’s mainly white liberals and opportunist ranking tribal members that think it is disrespectful. The vast majority of native people don’t view it as insulting.

I'm not going to opine on this issue until I hear what the Boss has to say about it.

Maybe it's time to help the natives end the appropriation of white culture that is hurting this so badly.
Let them return to the god like noble savage existence that left wingers have of them.

They’re just peaceful gatherers living off the land, Roger

I find the romanticizing of the natives to be the ultimate in hypocrisy. They had slaves, destroyed entire herds of buffalo at a time... Treated women like shite...

Someone explain to me why the Native Americans want every single reference to them - in their native lands - to be erased.
Posted on 2/22/21 at 4:51 pm to RogerTheShrubber
The Cherokee highly valued women. To the point of almost having a matriarchal society. They didn’t treat women like shite, but were definitely slave owners and many fought for the confederacy.
The romanticization comes from western movies appropriating their culture, ironically.
