Jeep has been using Cherokee as a model name since the mid-1970s, but its next generation of vehicles arrives during a heightened national discussion of racial and social justice issues.

Remember the days when we could make an Indian costume out of a paper bag and construction paper at school, and no one gave a shite?

Us Creeks will license the use of our tribe name for $3.50 a year.

Call me, Jeep.

It sounds like a way to somehow monetize it to benefit the tribe if they can come to a compromise to keep using the name.

Similar to FSU and the Seminoles (although it's more of an indirect connection).

I don't have an issue with them being paid for it and possibly being consulted on how to keep it respectful, but I think it a bit disingenuous to say it's outright dishonoring the tribe.
