It isn't about disrespecting the name of the tribe. Someone convinced the Chief there was an easy way to cash in on the name.

Oklahoma. They’re the descendants of those that were removed by the federal government along the trail of tears from 1836-1839.

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians are the descendants of those that stayed and fought.
