God damn. So these police trespassed on your brother's property and then discharged a firearm at a party surrounded by young children, all over a noise complaint. Did the police face any discipline? I'd guess probably not. That's beyond reckless. Hope your brother made it out ok.

The problem isn't even so much the one or two cops. It's that the other "good" cops defend them.

Had interactions with a few back in college who had the “Marshal Dillion Syndrome” and thought their badge made them a badass. Mostly small town cops who never got any real action. But I believe the good cops far outnumber the bad.

The only interaction I could describe as somewhat bad, wasn't even that bad. In college, my friends and I were packed 7 deep in a SUV riding to Florida for Spring Break. We wasn't drunk or anything (yet), but we were having a good time jamming to music in the car. My friend who was driving may have been speeding I assume. We got pulled over. The cop immediately ordered everyone to keep our hands in plain sight, and to roll every window down. We obliged. He ran the tag, came back and ordered everyone out of the car at gunpoint. No one was put in handcuffs, but he did order us all to place our hands on the truck and that he would shoot anyone who made any sudden movements. I was scared out of my wits, and cussing my friend who said it was his car. He's pleading with the officer stating he got it a used car lot 2 months ago and had no idea it could be stolen.

Long story short, backup came in 5 minutes. 3 more cars pulled up. Next thing we know, one of the other cops that pulled up smacked the cop that pulled us over in the head while calling him a dumbass. He proceeded to come up and profusely apologize for the mix up. Apparently the cop made a mistake inputting the license plate info, and that we were now free to go without even a ticket. That messed up our mood for the rest of the day, but we got over it and no one was really mad about it at all.

Didn’t even think to mention the death threats over his own error in your OP?

When in the USAF, I was dating the daughter of the colonel who was over the cops on base. Interestingly, my car was searched twice on base, completely unprovoked (they can do that on base). I never even fricked his daughter, just hung out, but apparently that was a big no-no.

Another time, a girlfriend of mine was arrested coming out of a bar. She wasn't the type to cause problems so I insisted in finding out why she was being arrested. Cop told me to move along. I kept insisting. He tells me to leave down a dark alley instead of taking the obvious route down the main road to the parking lot. This wasn't a good area so I told him I'm taking the main road/sidewalk and start down that path away from the bar. Next thing I know his fricking horse (he was a mounted officer) pins me up against a building, he hops down and cuffs me...hauling me in for disturbing the peace and public intoxication. fricking a-hole.

Was arrested another time for public urination but that was a funny experience in a small town. We were pre-gaming in a parking lot before heading into a bar and I'm taking a leak into a big evergreen. Two plain clothes officers walk up on me and tell me they're cops. I'm like, "yo, can I at least finish?". They nailed a few other friends for open container and took us to the station. That shite was funny as hell, we were cutting up with the cops there. Even begged them to put us in a cell for a few minutes just so we could say we'd gone to jail.

A couple of ladies I know were walking on 3rd Street in downtown BR. They passed a police officer, and the officer made a crude comment about one of the lady's breast. All five of the ladies heard his comment. The lady the officer directed his comment towards was offended and called police HQ to file a complaint against him. The policeman on the phone was very apologetic, saying that they don't tolerate this kind of thing and were sending the captain of the downtown police station her way to identify the officer that made the comment. Well the captain gets there, and it turns out he was actually the officer that made the crude comment to her. He claimed that she made up the whole story, and ended up giving her a ticket for filing a false police report or something of that nature. There were four other people there that heard what he said but he still denied it. I think she ended up having to pay the ticket if I remember right.

Mine come from personal interactions with police when they weren’t being police
Guy I was good friends with in high school became a jerk when he became a cop. Really stopped associating with people he had known since he was a kid. When we did see him he seemed like the guy we used to know.
He was stationed at the Highland rd substation and he admitted that some of the cops would frick with the college kids and if there was an altercation, the cop woul claim damage and sue. Turns out in some cases this is covered by some insurance. This was a good way to make some extra cash without doing overtime. There is a story to this I won’t tell. Some people on this sight will know the story.
I also used to play basketball at the Y with a couple of cops. Cheatingest lying starts bastards I played with. They were the guys who would be intentionally fouling whenever they were down 10-2 in a game to 11 like there was money on the game. The stories they would tell were frequently about the borderline crap they did that came from having a sense of entitlement to treat people poorly.
With all the above there was an element of thinking that it was “us against them” with them being anyone not a cop. And anything they did was justified by being a cop.
The bulk of my experience with police have been fine. Give respect and get respect in return except once. Got pulled over and I was speeding. I got out of the car and was waiting at the back with al the paperwork with my hands clearly visible. Cussed me like a dog for getting out of my vehicle in front of my daughter. Totally unnecessary.
Some people like to use the shock value of curse words to make inflict some fear or sense of authority.

I have only interacted with police a few times. Twice for speeding. The cops were fine and were professional. I was ticketed both times but I was speeding so I had no issue with the stops.

The other time was when I had graduated from UGA but remained there for a couple of years because I loved the town and was living in a downtown loft. I working as a kitchen manager at a restaurant in Athens to pay my meager bills.

I got off at 11:00pm one night and had gone back to my loft to shower and then walk down to a bar to meet some friends. I lived above Flanagan’s which was at the corner of Jackson St and East Clayton. After I had exited the steps from my loft at street level, I got to the intersection and was about to cross over the narrow street when an APD cop comes hauling arse up Jackson and made an abrupt stop at the stop sign right in front of me. I waited until he began to proceed across E. Clayton and started to walk across after his back end had cleared. He slammed on his brakes and jumped out of his car and yelled at me to stop. I was confused and had no clue what he was stopping me for. He looked to be about my age (23-26) and fresh out of the military and the gym. He looked pretty roided up and was wearing one of those Smokey the bear hats. It was as he was coming around the car that I noticed he had 2 coed aged looking girls in his front seat rammed into one seat.

He came around and started barking at me like a drill sergeant. “Are you just stupid boy! You almost hit my car! Where are you going!” On and on. I knew this guy was putting on a show and that if I tried to debate him I was going to be assaulted and arrested. I just said “ I am sorry officer, I did see you and waited for you to pass before I crossed the street. I am sorry , I really didn’t think I was doing anything wrong. I just worked all day and was going to meet some friends.” He laid in to me again for a few seconds and then said “be on your way!”

I was seething mad at his abuse of authority but also knew that I had handled the situation appropriately so as not to allow something so stupid to escalate.

Revenge is sweet.

About 3 weeks later I was working a lunch shift when I saw 4 cops come in for lunch. Jackass was one of them. I told the waitress to tell me which of the items on the order was his. He ordered a prime rib sandwich. I don’t need to tell you what all I did to his sandwich but when they were about done, I took off my apron and made a pass through the area where they were seated and stopped at their table. I asked them how their food was and after they said it was fine I looked at him and said “you look familiar, where do I know you from?” He looked puzzled and said “you do too, don’t know how though.” I said “oh, I remember, I was crossing the street Downtown a couple of weeks ago and you got me for walking across the street behind your car. Well, thanks for coming in and y’all have a good day.”

His face went white after that and no telling what was going through his head. “Did he see me walk in? Did he frick with my food?” I am sure he told his cop buddies his concerns and I am sure they reassured him that there was no way I could have known he was eating there or which order was his. But I did. And 25 years later it still pleases me to know that karma really is a bitch.

You can’t say you’ve been to Ole Miss without getting fricked with by the OPD at least once. Jail is basically a right of passage.

I’ve got several dick cop stories (and some positive stories too, In fairness) but this made me remember something those cocks at OPD did one night on the square

One night around 10 pm Me, a buddy, and this girl I was with at the time were walking back from the square towards Frank and Marley’s down the alley way that it’s on and two OPD officers were sitting in the alleyway with their windows down as they often do, I didn’t think much of it

Me and my friends were just talking as we normally would no where near even being loud and all of a sudden one of the cops busts out of the car and says “WHAT DID YOU SAY?”

I, quite confused, responded with “uhh.....what?”

“I HEARD YOU WHAT DID YOU SAY?”

“Sir, I’m sorry I didn’t say anything”

“YOU SAID SOMETHING TELL ME WHAT YOU SAID”

(Now I’m getting a bit aggravated): “Sir I didn’t say anything”

this whole time we were just walking slowly as we were talking to him, he never told us to stop and he finally just says “YOU BETTER KEEP frickING WALKING”

I’m like “okaaaayyyyyyyy......” and that was he end of it

Ultimately not a big deal but weird shite, guess I’ll never know what actually brough all that on but a little unnerving since I know for a fact he could have arrested me right there on the spot for drunk in public making up whatever bullshite he wanted to justify it and I’d have been fricked.

Was in College Station one night in my black Mustang with Longhorn stickers all over it. Aggie campus cop got behind me and pulled me over saying I'd crossed the white one, or some shite.

My Aggie brother was riding with me and he cussed her black and blue (I didn't do anything wrong, it was a roust). This was 25 years ago so she let me go.

Another time I was in Stillwater, Oklahoma, after a Texas baseball game. Drove a burnt-orange Cadillac with horns on the hood just north of the baseball field, where there's frat houses.

We hear a thump and soon after see cop lights, pulling us over. "Which one of y'all threw that beer bottle?" the campus cop asked. Obviously WE had the bottle thrown at US

only once. in college. 2 female police officers arrested me for not having my DL. i lost it a week before and they said they couldn't find me in the system. instead of giving me ticket, they took me to jail because my SS, hunting license, insurance card and college id could have "all been faked and i could be a terrorist..." that's literally what the stupid bitch said.

next morning judge threw the case out and let me go, but not before i had to stand in front of a judge and my mom seeing me being brought in. i hope something mildly bad happened to those two cops.

Most of them are fricking morons. Cops by in large do NOT know the law, often making it up as they go.

Weird that Firefighters deal with a lot of the same stuff and aren't consistently accused of abuse.

Amen

Firefighters and paramedics go through WAY worse and somehow manage not to do much murdering at all, of people or dogs.

I truly believe we could eliminate cops and be better off as a society. I wish a city would try it; not only would it be great for the world but I would make a ton of money off of bets that it would work out.

Firefighters don't pull people over or carry guns. They aren't in a position to abuse people. Their job is saving lives. This shouldn't need explaining.

Twenty-something years ago, my wife and I were on Holly Beach, Cameron for Memorial Day or 4th of July. It used to be a great time before the hurricane wiped it out. Anyway, wife never drinks much and I was heavily buzzed so she was driving us out. The beach “road” was stop and go bumper to bumper both ways at (around) 11pm. I saw a couple of buddies standing outside my window so I hollered at them. We were shooting the shite waiting on traffic to move.

Then BAM, we got rearended. I look out the window and this CPSD deputy on a 4 wheeler yells at us to pull over because someone hit our car. The conversation went something like this:

Who?
I did motherfricker, don’t stop on my beach!
There’s nowhere to go! Everyone’s stopped!
You can go to jail!
For what?
Loud belligerent gibberish....
What the frick!?!?
You cussing me?!?! (Getting off his 4wheeler)
frick you!
frick you!
No, frick you!!!

Deputy was outside my window and about to yank me out the car. Other CPSD deputies walked up and asked him what the problem was. He turned to them and said something and the backup deputy’s head went back when he smelled the other a-hole deputy’s breath. He turned to me and said “have a good evening, drive safe”

We pulled up about twenty feet and stopped again. I looked out the window and other deputies were gathered around him. Another deputy got on the drunk deputy’s 4wheeler and drove it out of the “road” and parked it.

There was no damage to our car. The buddy I was talking to told me later that he didn’t rear end me, he slapped the back glass really hard.

I’ve had plenty. There are some a-hole dickhead cops, no doubt — the ones who abuse their authority and think they can do whatever they want because they’re in a uniform and they know you can’t retaliate. Wanna-be tough guys.

A couple weeks ago a cop was being all saracastic and talking down to me after I asked him why the I-10 on-ramp was closed. He said, “I want to ask you a serious question - why do you think I’m parked here?” I said, “I don’t know; that’s why I’m asking.” He said, “because there’s a fricking accident.” I said, “Ok, well I have a serious question to ask you: why are you such a fricking dick?” Then he started saying, “You wanna ticket? Blah blah blah” I told him, “All you had to say was that there was an accident. It doesn’t cost anything to be kind to people.” Dude was a prick.
