been robbed with a pistol pointed in my face...late 90's pilled out and dealing with people and places that i should not have been.sobered me up pretty quick,i'm lucky all they got off me was about $200 bucks and i lived.

I didn't know it was a life-threatening situation at the time being a little kid and all, but I was driving with my family up to Taos, New Mexico for skiing, and of course we didn't have chains on our tires, and we ended up swerving out, into a giant snowbank, that under normal (non-heavy snowfall) conditions wouldn't exist, but would be a giant fall off the mountain.

Got choked out cold by a dude with severe anger issues.
Woke up with a broken hand and couldn't talk. He took off.
He ended up being arrested for felony-strangulation and is currently spending two years in prison.

I fell into the Mississippi River just up from N.O.. It was 2 AM in February, cold, I was out investigating a minor barge collision. I had a PFD on, I was floating along a loaded barge headed toward an empty barge (that means you're dead). I was lucky enough to be able to grab a rope hanging off the barge and hang on until the deckhands could haul my hypothermic arse out of the water. I had nightmares for a long time.
