Lost an engine on takeoff out of Monroe in IMC, in a twin engine piston once.
February 91 was riding on top of a M113 apc and coming over a rise in the terrain to find myself about 200 meters from some of Iraqs finest. We saw them before they saw us.
Landing in keflavik on my first time going across the north Atlantic during a heavy snow storm had pstatic so bad that the pilot side windshield shattered was very loud. Scared me to death was shaking. All the captain said was call field in sight, when I replied field in sight he replied your airplane and I landed. We taxied in and he said I guess we ought to get that fixed. I wanted to be just like him from that point on.

That one time I had to face down some Bandidos who thought they were going to mudcheck me.

I wasn't answering. I was guessing. Can't be too many names that start with I.

In high school, we had rain storm that lasted a few weeks and flooded every creek in town. What were normal drainage ditches turned into quick moving creeks. We decided it was a good idea to get rafts and float down them. We had gotten about a mile down the route when an older gentleman who lived near the creek told us what we were doing was a bad idea. Being HS Sr's, we laughed and told him to piss off. Almost instantly, I went to step out of the raft and walk it to the dry land when I was immediately swept off my feet. The power of the water no mater how calm it looked, was unbelievable. I was just floating in the creek as I approached a chain linked fence running across the river. The water was flowing so fast with so much more volume than normal that it created a major backup. Imagine this with water about 4 feet up it.


Somehow I had the wherewithal to know if I made it to that fence, I was going to drown while my friends watched. I started swimming towards the side and grabbed a small tree. I was able to pull myself up the tree, jump to another tree, and get to where the water wasn't moving as fast.

Crazy scenario. Everything was instinctual. It wasn't until later that night I realized what the result very easily could have been. Didn't sleep too well for a few days.

Task force woke me up a couple of times with AR 15's in my face,and was locked up in a max facility.

Other than barely missing being in some bad car wrecks, no. Thank God for that. Hoping to get through the rest of my life without anybody pointing a gun at me.

Well, when the woman did it, I was real calm and cool. (Fear will do that, I think)

When the guy did it, I,was pretty sure he was gonna fire and he did. He aimed over our heads at the last second. Thats what I get for getting in the middle of a domestic dispute.
